I was wondering if it would be possible to make a decent hammock out of a sheet. Any thoughts? Thanks.

It has been done by someone who attended the 1st Annual Florida Hang back in 2010. I think he cinched a king size sheet folded in half to make his.
I didn't get a good look as his rig, but I heard it held him just fine.
Cool. Thanks. I might try it myself. I'm planning to make a new hammock and I'm trying to figure out what material to use. I have a lot of spare sheets that I don't need and I happened to wonder if it would work. Thank you again.
A polyester sheet maybe, or if you're very light. I know a cotton sheet wouldn't hold my big behind :)
Nothing wrong with that ;) haha the all too familiar stttrrrreeeettttttccchhhhhh.. SNAP, usually the suspension though not the hammock body. Either way best of luck and have fun!
Sheets are frequently too short to get a good hang. If you are vertically challenged you might be ok. But when the average hammock blank starts at 10' that's a really long sheet. Use a new or very lightly used sheet. Hang it up against the light and check for thin spots. If there are any you might want to rethink using it. Never hang higher than you are willing to fall.
I have made one out of a sheet and spent 3 nights in it just for giggles about 2 months ago used a high thread count cotton Polly blend flat sheet whipped the ends "no sewn channel" and hung I with about 35 degrees of sag and hey presto it held me and I am 6'2" and 370 pounds.
Good luck with the bridge setup.
Remember to only hung above a 'soft landing' pad if possible. Take pictures and post them so we can give you a better feedback.
Have fun.
Hmm. Sewing bad, uninterrupted fabric good. Also use a large diameter rope that isn't abrasive or you will end up on the ground. I will go take some pictures of the whipped ends of that hammock And ill post them here for you if I remember correctly the knot I used was a sheet bend that was tied with a 6 foot loop of rope
Here are those pictures and I was mistaken the sheet is 100% cotton
