The JRB and KAQ will fit on any hammock. Speer is coming out with a new underquilt, too. Those are the only three underquilts on the market.
Contact the Jacks at Jacks r better and ask if it will fit your hammock. Probably will acording to this info:

If you buy one of their quilts, get the No Sniveller. It is more versitle. Or wait and buy one of the new Speer underquilts when they are available.
I have used a ENO singlenest and a Jacks R Better Nest with great sucess. Although the reason I used the Nest is the first hammock I used was the HH Expedition Asym, so I really liked the slit entry. Now that Ive been using top loading hammocks I would have gone for the No Snivllier due to the muti-use of the quilt. A Peadpod would proboly work well too.
So the underquilts are designed to attach to a certain style of hammock? I wasn't sure if the tie-offs or attachment points were made specifically for one hammock. Why wait for the new Speer underquilt? I have until next year to get this for my thru, so I don't mind waiting. Just wonder what is so specials about Speer's design.
On the first sentence I meant to say they are not designed to fit a specific hammock.
The Speer UQ is designed different than other UQ out there. There is a flat piece of fabric that goes against the bottom of the hammock and the baffles hang down from that. There is no chance of compressing the insulation. It is also easier to attach; it clips on to each end of the hammock by a biner. No adjustments required.
On the other hand the JRB quilts work great also. They are time tested and also can serve several functions: UQ, camp clothing, and a top quilt. They have a steeper learning curve in setting up, but once the technique is mastered it becomes like second nature.
I guess it all depends on what you really want from that particular piece of gear.
I guess I'm unlike most people when I say this, but JRB doesn't appeal to me because it can be used for all those things. I guess it's the OCD side taking over. Besides, I would never use the JRB as a jacket around camp. Again OCD, I can't wear anything that goes from head to feet. All of my clothing stops at the waist. Either waist up for top clothing, or waist down for botom clothing. Nothing ever passes over the middle. Anyways....I like the KAQ. The price fits my needs, and it seems simple. How low could someone get with the KAQ roughly?
The JRB quilts with the head hole are a little longer than your waist when worn as clothing. They don't go head to feet, it's worn like a poncho.
I have seen some people wear a wind proof/water proof shell with the No Sniveller as a down poncho underneath.
if I get an underquilt it will be from Speer when he puts them out. He said the other day they are working on that UQ for Trail Days

Looking at the pictures the JRB seems to come down to around the knees to upper thighs. Unfortunately that is too low for me to be able to wear. There is no explaining why, that's just how it is.
[QUOTE=hammock engineer;14073]Ok, I took a tape measre, and that comes to about a couple of inches above my knee. Definately too long. Doesn't mean I won't get one though, just not use it as a jacket. I like the KAQ if it can really go down to 30. With my clothes that would take me to anything I would ever see since I avoid extreme cold whenever possible. I will probably wait until Speer comes out with his to see what it is like, and choose between the two. For the price though, I will probably go with the KAQ. I appreciate everyones' advice.
The KAQ is a good piece of gear. I have yet to use one I hope to at some point, but from what I hear 30 deg is doable. It depends if you are someone who sleeps really warm and gets cold really easily. If you are not afriad of a couple extra oz, get a double layered one. That would be very warm.
I'm gonna talk to Black Bishop about it. Maybe see if he can add more insulation to it if it wouldn't be too much trouble. Plus it's camo like my tarp.
Cool.
Nothing really to add, I just wanted to be the one to post the 14,000 post on HF.
Trust me, do yourself a favor and wait for the Speer UQ if you can. He should have them out around Trail Days. I had the distinct honor of being allowed to try out one of those babies at the SEHHA Hangout a couple weekends ago in Hot Springs. The design is WONDERFUL, I had neither hot spots nor cold spots both nights I slept with it. Youngblood and Ed have designed a KILLER product that is probably going to sell very well, but, most importantly, keep a lot of hammockers warm and comfy. I'm pretty sure that it's going to make the nice folks at JRB and KAQ (Who I'm told make excellent products, not to take anything away from them) sit up and take notice. It's a great product and, in my own opinion, would be well worth the wait. :D
Huh? Aye? a new underquilt? Where is all this info coming from!?
Please give more details as to how it differs from current underquilts. Though I'm saving to go to Canada, maybe I shouldn't let myself be tempted....
It is coming from seeing them at SEHHA. Speer is releasing them officially at Trail Days. There are some pictures floating around. It differs in that it is hassle free. It is not the typical insulation sandwiched between two pieces of material.
And we still don't know what the price range is for them. Price was still undetermined (or embargoed) at SEHHA.
Check out my gallery for the SEHHA campout. There are three of Speer's new UQ pictured.
Thanks guys, that looks like a great design.... now I just have to wait for my old gear to wear out ;)
I like your style! My bank ballance is wavering... soon to be non existant... Keep Strong Wentworth!
I can't really buy it. I am trying to save money for a thruhike, grad school, and college for my wife.
