My wife says "Daddy's new obsession!" Meh, so be it. I think back a few years ago to a trip I took with the brother-in-law to a campground in Georgia. We were surrounded by monster campers with satellite dishes hanging from them. The temps got down into the upper 30's at night. I thought I'd freeze to death sleeping in that tent on that air mattress. I teared up every time I heard the heater on the land yacht next door kick on. If I only knew then what I know now! If I had been hanging, I also would have been in the treeline farther away from the loudest snorer in this hemisphere instead of in a tent 8 feet away!

I will be attempting my first hammock camp in a few weeks amongst tent camping friends. I'm curious to gauge their reactions.
I'm one of only a couple in the group that actually enjoys the hobby of researching and modifying camping gear, measuring weight vs. effectiveness, trying different bush methods and gear tinkering, etc. Most of the other guys are "Wal-Mart car campers" (not that that is a bad thing).
Maybe if I show some ease and enjoyment my first time out in a hammock I can convert some of them!?
