DIY-Done: tarp stuff sack (long & narrow) [w/PICS]
I have a Shangri La tarp from Arrowhead that is my 'go to.'
However, I've decided I no longer want to carry it inside my pack; especially if it's wet from rain, frost, etc. Since the original stuff sack is short and fat, I felt like there was no real easy way to secure it to my pack. I kept feeling like it might slip out of the 'sleeping pad straps' that are on the bottom of my pack and I didn't want it to just dangle from the pack.
I needed something with a smaller diameter, but longer. Enter a small remnant piece of gray ripstop from JoAnns and my thread injector. Total cost: $1.50; and I have enough material to make two more.
I created a 12" long, <4" diameter, double-cinched stuff sack that now fits perfect on my pack and looks good too. And, I am no longer worried it may slip out.
