It's Florida in June so you'll need the bug net and some spray. As for the paddle from the put in it's about a mile. I'll be heading out in a few weekends for a recon paddle and I'll have more info but it's a really easy paddle regardless.

I'm trying to talk my wife into making it her first hang. We'll see though, she's not a fan of cat hole camping.

It is near Ft Myers/Cape Coral. Pine Island is just north of Sanibel Island. Picnic island is south of Pine Island just offshore SouthEast of the island.
Very cool looking little island.
Your Googlefoo is strong. You got the right place.

OK, so far I'm thinking of heading out to the island I'm the early afternoon on Friday from a local marina in St. James City (I will check on parking). Do some nighttime fishing, lounging, island exploring, etc. Head back to the main island early on Sunday morning. This is a very primitive island with no water or anything so everything will have to be brought.
If anyone wants to go but doesn't have a vessel let me know. My buddy runs a fishing charter and can ferry groups for a small fee if we set it up ahead of time.
Please bear with me as I'm new to this forum and to hammock camping, if there's something that I'm overlooking or not mentioning let me know. I will post pictures after my recon trip to make sure it is adequate for hammock camping. :)
Edit: a redundant word
