How does one go about adding tree huggers (looking at eno slap straps) to a DD traveler? I'm trying to get the set up as simple as possible since its my first hammock. I want to tie as few knots as I can! As this is my first ever hammock feel free to explain it like you're talking to a child! Bonus points for crayon drawings and diagrams.
My understanding is that the eno straps tend to stretch and sag so not usually a good pick. I would check here since Dejoha has tonnes of diagrams available for all sorts of things:

Those are better. I'm not actually looking to make my own tree huggers though. I just want to buy some and put them on my hammock. I'm just confused as to remove the existing suspension system and add tree huggers (hopefully thereby simplifying set up considerably)Quote:

fear not the knot, it can be conquered/mastered...
there are several places on this forum where you will find videos of the inner workings of just about every issue you can imagine
have patients & do some perusing, it WILL pay off
keep your digital camera charged up & have an extra memory stick handy
take pictures of every step you take in your project, so you will be able to revert to the original state or duplicate your successes...
a yellow legal pad & a pencil w/ eraser are also quite handy
don't be afraid to open things up, by clipping a zip tie, just use a small pair of nippers, not a sharp knife(don't ask)
though not quite ANVIL simple, hammocks are almost that simple and the use of the right supplies can render you wonderful results

i am in the middle of re-doing the suspension on my new, to me, hammock and am having a ball working thru the issues
buy a bit more material/strap/cordage than you think you will need and experiment with it
having a red crayon, a sharpie, a tape measure, an awl, a small pair of nippers/wire cutters, a pair of long nosed hemostats, a small roll of moderately stiff wire, a roll of blue painter's tape and a fairly large flat surface to work on will be down right handy, when playing with your project

I just got the DD but I was using whoopies and the marlin spike method on my diy. I think both are pretty easy.

dd hammocks, ukhammocks and twhammocks sell tree huggers. In europe if you are not looking to diy those are probably your best options. DO NOT get nylon straps, make sure they are polyester if possible for less stretch.
Fairly new here so not familiar w DD traveler but don't you have to hook tree huggers to Whoopies and then to the hammock? Not directly to the hammock, unless it is like WB suspension.
The dd suspension uses lighter weight (and width) webbing... not exactly sure what width or material it is made from but lots of people like to change it.Quote:

I have no idea. I thought I could remove the suspension that comes with it put in some tree huggers and call it a day! Whoopie Slings on the hammock. Then Dutch Buckles on the Tree Huggers. No Knots or Biners. Easy Peasy.

Sorry I'm such a raving noob but I would remove the thick black webbing from the ends of my hammock and attach the whoopie along there? This would also give me a nice taught ridgeline?Quote:

But if you don't want to (or are not able to) spent the money for the whoopies, the method with the carabiner mod would be cheap and (I think) easy too.

Normal site worked perfect, weird. So that little whoopie sling will hold my 220lb booty eh? And how do you get the right whoopiesling for your hammock? Is it designed to keep the ridgeline taught all on its own or is there some adjustment I have to do? Once the ridgeline is taught I just stake down the tarp over it and I'm good? Perhaps amsteel with loop on each end to wrap the tree, carabiner thru loops, and rappel rings for web hammock lines. real simple
I use amsteel line for tarp with loop on one end, small carabiner to wrap around tree and clip to tarp, similar other end only with prussic knot and carabiner to take up slack.
