Coker Creek was a washout
Well Lunchbox,Miss Dixie and I went to Coker Creek,Tn. Sun. and Mon. We started out with the weather report, It said 80% Sunday night, 90% Monday and 100% Monday night. So we said what a great time to camp. We were going to some friends property to do some prospecting and the weather report said that in would clear during the day on Monday and be partly sunny. FAT chance. We hiked in about a mile and set up camp right on the creek, We cooked some vittles, fed Miss Dixie and hit the hay about 9:30. At 10:00 it started to rain and rain and rain.With a good nights sleep we woke just before daylight. I made lunchbox some oatmeal and rasins and me a cup of green tea with lemon and ginseng. When the sun came up the wind started blowin and blowin and blowin, did i mention it was raining? So between the rain and 40mph winds we didnt make it in the creek to pan, and Miss Dixie made it very clear she wasn't coming out to play.So around 12:00 we packed up and headed out. Wouldn't you know it, it was sprinking when we started to pack up. The more we packed the harder it rained. When it was time to take the tarp down it started to pour and was a regular toad strangler. We walked the mile out in weeds chest high and yes,we got soaked. We slept through a Hurricanator and managed to stay dry(with an extra tarp brought as a back up) up to this point, but couldn't have gotten wetter if we had fallin in a lake. Less than a minute after we made it to the Jeep it stop raining and the sun come out, I kid you not, but still had the wind.So, seeings how we made it out of Widowmakersville unscathed, we loaded our bag of toys and went to our friend Jacks and Lunchbox changed clothes (of course i'm male so im not changing for nuttin). She was having a problem getting warm so jack made her a bloody mary with some of his homemade "recipe" Holy cow that'll warm your innereds. So when she got warm and we caught up on old times we made our way back home, even though it was a washout, we had a great time just being together in the piney woods. Seeing Jack(75 yrs young) is always a great time. We are already making plans to go back maybe w/o the rain this time. Thanks for reading.
