Here is the next installment of our adventure. We head south on the SHT and hike my favorite section of the trail. The colors are changing while we're hiking and it is amazingly beautiful.

That is one bright hammock. Don't need to worry about wandering too far from camp with that strung up.
Not unlike the first and second videos, I watched this third video.
Twice.
Because of Tala.
Constructive criticism: More wolf, less people. :) Also, I'm really enjoying these. As somebody who would really like to do a hike like this some day, not only are these amusing but they're also informative. Thanks for sharing.
Another great video Fronkey! oh Caleb...
Looks like you guys had a blast. The kid did amazing seeing it was his first trip.
I was waiting all weekend for this vid. Totally worth it. When can go u post part 4 .......... Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee
So why am I envisioning myself being left on the side of the trail in February...........great video
Everyone loves the pups. I plan on doing a cool video with both of them in the future. You will love it! Thanks for watching.
Thanks dude. You should have seen Kaleb's feet on day 10. Holy crap! :scared:
Thank you. Yeah, Kaleb did really great for his first time out. I was impressed.
I'm editing it now and hoping to get it out tomorrow. I have a promise to keep to Medicine man to finish them all by Weds. lol
Tala and I will be going pretty fast in Feb. 4 more months of training!
Fronkey
Been waitin' all day for the Fronkey dose!
Hiking in the fall is my favorite. The weather, the lack of bugs, the scenery, and the red tree leaves!
I wonder if that was an Elk poundin' and bugling outside your camp? They can sound way scary, and the timing's right for them to be making their love songs, which sound like something out of a scary movie.
Keep 'em coming. By the way, thanks for the trail motivation and inspiration and again, awesome tuneage!
YOU SHALL NOT PASS got me laughing out loud.
These are fanfreakingtastic. So much fun to watch. The thing about the smoke monster made me laugh. I'd crap myself, hahaha. Thanks for sharing, look forward to the next.
MOST EXCELLENT ... as always! Looks like a ton of fun is still being had along the trail! Looking forward to the next installment!
More awesomeness! Makes me wish I was in the woods. Kaleb's trail name Gandalf?
:)
Great video. Looks like an awesome trip. Thanks for sharing it with us. I really enjoy following along.
Another great installment. And getting a day ahead of schedule so you can double dip into the food bag is a great feeling. :D
Great way to start the week on this chilly monday morning in Holland.
Looking forward to a great way to start tuesday morning :D
Grtz Johan
Another great video Fronkey! And as always, the pup looks like she if having a great time. Kaleb though, running on fumes indeed! THOU SHALL NOT PASS!
Problem is I don't get to watch for 8 hours...darned firewall :( But it'll be first thing I watch after I wake up.
Another great capture of the colors, and issues of long distance hiking
Food becomes an obsessing passion after a while :drool:
So much so that you photo your meals

Really great videos Fronkey!
I started watching the 1st one this morning, and didn't stop until I finished the 3rd one. Don't leave me hangin'.......... more, more!!!
HB
Coffee and Kaleb...alliterative and awesome!
Watched this one over my morning cuppa, and it delivered just as well as the previous two. Man, it looks like it's beautiful up there in MN right now. We're just starting to get down into the high-60s at night down here. It'll be another two months before we see any leaf change...
Enjoying these vids. I thought you were sitting on your dog at 1:03 into this vid...funny.
good one! did you say you were breaking Caleb in for the Marines? He will be telling tales about "could be worse, you could be hiking with my cousin". ;-))
Super excited when I saw this on my youtube feed when I got into work this morning! Great video. Looks like the dog is giving you quite the workout. Glad to see you're having a lot of fun though.
How do we follow your spot? It would be really cool to watch fellow hammockers progress on their trips!
Another great installment, looks like everyones craving food, even 4 legged n furry (yes that included you Fronkey)!
another great video!!! it makes me miss the midwest even more so...
tala is an awesome dog!! your cousin not bad for a noob :D
p.s what type of harness/pack she is wearing???
You're right, fall is the best time to hit the trail.
We had the same idea on that. Kaleb and I were thinking it was either a deer or a moose because the rut it going on. He had actually heard the same thing on his night alone. Still really spooky to wake up too. lol
Fronkey
Moose......!
Had that same thing once north of Cascade. Smashing, thrashing, trumpeting. Never saw it. Went down to the bog to see if it emerged but no. Yeah.....sorta unsettling.
Sounds like the drop-offs for food was easy enough. That's good.
Yeah....cousin looks tired.
Always get some sort of wildlife action at Horse-shoe ridge.
I'm off to the Kekekabic in the morn.....can't wait to be out. Alone. In the pineys.....
Shug
Kaleb kept saying that section reminded him of LOTR. So, it had to be done.
Thanks for watching. I think I might have poo'd a little when I heard the monster.
Thanks dude! The next one is done and will be put out tonight. :D
Thanks Ber. He ended up getting the trail name "yeah yeah" because EVERY time you told him something he would say "Yeah?" It got pretty annoying after 14 days. lol
Thanks for checking it out.
Thanks man. Man, I love those days when you can just pig out and lighten your pack.
Thank you. I already edited part 4 and it will be out tonight. :)
Thanks a bunch. Yeah, I didn't realize he was that tired when we were hiking. I feel really bad I kept pushing him now while I'm editing these videos. lol
I finished part 4 already and am on my way to keeping my promise. :)
OMG! That food is drool worthy even as I'm sitting here on my couch.
Fronkey
"That's all part of hiking... body feels like crap, spirit feels great. And a little bit like crap." Priceless. And true.
Along with your DIY skills your videos always impress. Great job by the 'kid' on his first hike.
I remember waking up one morning to heavy splashing out in Algonquin (lucky enough to camp right on the water). Once I looked out, saw two moose about 30 yards out taking an early morning swim. They do like to make some noise. Really wish I had remembered to grab the camera!
Seems I'm a bit behind the ball here but looking forward to this installment Fronkey!
Thanks dude! Part 4 is finished and will be out tonight.
It is really gorgeous up here at the moment. I do miss those Florida winters though. :D
Thanks man. haha I hung my hammock low because it was really windy and I pitched my tarp down. She kept licking me in the face that night.
Yeah, he joined the marines right before we went on the trip. I will be the nightmare of the marines! :scared: Thanks for watching!
Tala smoked us the whole trip. But, we kind of expected she would. lol I only posted my spot link on my facebook and didn't want it posted on here. I mainly just carried it to put the girlfriend's mind at ease.
Thank you. Yeah, we really were ravenous even at a 4200 calorie a day diet.
Thanks Peanuts. She wears a Wolf Pack Banzai pack and a Mountain ridge dog harness.
Aw man, was it really??? I am dying to see a MN moose and I probably would have hunted it down if I knew. I did 4 food drops and it worked out awesome and less than a mile from the trail both ways.
I have a funny story about the latrine at horseshoe ridge I'll tell you about next time we camp.
Have an awesome time on Kekekabic trail. That's on my list and I can't wait to see what the trail looks like.
Fronkey
Awesome way to start the week.
Are you going to have to go back? "You shall not pass" seemed pretty convincing! :)
Yes!!! I've been waiting oh so patiently. :)
Thanks Fronkey, Great way to start the week.
i'm really loving this trip man....this is your best videos yet
i love that you lost him on the first leg of the trip LOL
that is classic LOL
So it was as fun to watch as I thought it'd be! Thanks! Curious, as I have a dog that will be backpacking with me, how'd Tala handle the rain during sleep time? Did you throw something down for her? Or did she just get her top coat wet?
Thanks.
"Woooo! This is our view today how's yours looking!?" Fronkey says, as I am at work in an office that I share with another dude...
Not too great, Fronkey, not too great. Way to rub it in.
HAHA
The solitude sounds amazing. It is fun to get out there and be in the woods. I miss it already.
Thanks man!
Thanks dude! It's funny to think about losing him now, but sure wasn't funny at the time it was happening.
Thank you. Tala would sleep under the tarp when it started raining. She would just walk on over and get under the cover.
I actually edited out a clip where I say, "It's cold as crap but it beats sitting at the office in front of a computer."
Fronkey
Another excellent Fronkey production.
Love the short scene with the fall colors-that is enticing.
Your quote on bodily pain versus the boosted spirit, that's it in a nutshell why we keep getting out there.
"It's cold as crap but it beats sitting at the office in front of a computer." now that quote hurts about right now but it wont this coming weekend :)
Good stuff, please keep it coming.
Good job Fronkey. I totally agree about going down hill, it blows. Gimme up hill any day of the week.
STinGa
Thanks for the great videos! If you are ever out this way give me a shout and I'll show ya some east coast ranges !
It sure am enjoying the series. Some beautiful views up there fo sho! You guys aren't afraid to eat up some miles, I'll give ya that. Looks like a great time.
Can't wait to see the continuing adventures of Fronkey and his crew
another great video Fronkey. You are setting the bar high for folks who want to do videos
That's exactly why we do it. There isn't an elevator to get to those ridges and we have to see those beautiful views. I'll put up part 4 tonight. Have an awesome time on your trip.
My knee thanks me when I go up hill. Thanks for watching.
