Wilson's Creek NC - Hang friendly?

Hi guys, this weekend some friends and myself are going to try and go camping up on Wilson's Creek here in the lovely state of NC....have any of you local NC guys been camping there? is it hammock friendly? We were going to go and stay in the campground at Crowder's Mountain in Gastonia, but, the last time we went, there weren't enough trees around our campsite to accommodate us all, plus, the rangers were driving through and said we had to stay within our tent pad.....and not hang from surrounding trees.....Thanks for any info in advance!

Hope you get some good news for your question about the Wilson's creek area.

We've floated the New river in that area and hung at the Allegheny Access area with no problem. 3 miles from there was our take-out at the Mouth of Wilson Creek. The ranger came around and never said a word and we bought firewood from him and talked to him but didn't mention the hammocks, he was very nice. Sometimes I think it's best not to make a big deal out of it to make them think about it.... you know what I mean?

Thank you guys for the help, i really appreciate it. Someone told me that you can camp anywhere as long as you're a certain distance from the river....my main trouble is that i'm not sure where to park and where we can walk in at. We planned on driving to the Wilson's Creek Visitor Center and going from there. I've got a few inexperienced hikers/backpackers going along with me, so i'm trying to keep the hike to camp to a minimum...
