Cheapest and most comfortable hammock

Yes, I realize the title of this post is very idealistic, but hey, one can dream.
I am a college student (i.e. broke) and love my hammock camping.
I currently have an ENO DN that I used with a DIY bugnet and whoopies.

I am looking to go to a smaller sized hammock but I am 6'3 200 lbs and need to stretch out when I sleep.
Are there any vendors that make a lightweight hammock with a footbox the will fit me that is priced under ~$60.

The BIAS weight weenie with knotty mod appears to be the closest.

You pretty much hit it. Have one of the first and love it. Doubled the Knotty Mods on mine, never looked back :shades:

Provided you have access to a sewing machine and can find Walmart ripstop, just make your own. Talk about inexpensive. I'm not far off from your height and weight and 126" has proven to be a good size. Not too big. Not too small.

My sewing skills are pretty week, the only thing I have made is my bugnet.
Also my sewing machine is literally from the 70s, and has some issues.

I do want to try it though and it may be the route I take, I was just seeing if there are any vendors who I am overlooking.

A little sewing and one of those Tableclothfactory sheets and you should be a happy camper!

I'll look more into the BIAS hammock but I think I'll be testing my sewing skills again....and if I mess up, I'll have an unlimited supply of stuff sacks!

I just saw a thread about a new website called Northwoods hammocking. They had a netted asymmetrical hammock for 50 bucks with everything. may be something worth looking in to.

The weight weenie micro gets excellent reviews... It is the next hammock on my list... Save the cash and do the knotty mods yourself... I mean you have maybe $3 worth of elastic and a few knots... I know when they do it they run an extra seam and do an overkill excellent quality job... But I would save the dough since it seems like money is priority for you...

I've made both my own hammocks and I've never sewn a stitch. Just gather the ends of some rip stop nylon. I used to whip them but now I just use small cable ties. The whole process takes about 10mins and costs next to nothing. The results are superb.

I'm 6'4" at 220lbs and am comfy relaxing and napping in a GT ultralight. At only $20 it's hard to beat the price. Haven't done much else with it though.

I also think the Northwoods Wolf Hammock looks like a winner. If I were making a strong, cheap, comfortable hammock I'd choose the same materials.

The tablecloth hammock is also very comfortable. I made one with a mini spreader bar, and it's great. I will probably use the same design with some 1.9 ripstop someday.

Relaxing and napping is cool in those, overnight not so much... For me anyway. I'm only 6'1" so I can't imagine you'd have any better luck though. There's just not enough there for a good diagonal lay.

I think if you are speaking of the Wolf hammock, once you choose your netting option, the price changes to about $121.

The pricing IS a little confusing. I thought it was same price with or without...

New website and a little more fine tuning might be helpful.

I have a pretty hard calf ridge in mine and I'm 5'10" its a good light hammock... Maybe a bug out bag hammock... But I love my tablecloth hammock leaps and bounds over my grand trunk...

I moved up to the GT Double and then got a Single and both are infinitely more comfortable than the UL. The UL will stay in my car, with its stock suspension, as a spur of the moment nap kit. I don't mind a quick nap in it, but overnight was never comfortable. I slept in it five or six nights before admitting that to myself.

Oldragfreeze, could you please share more about the Grand Trunk UL? I'm not questioning your experience at all, I'd just like to know what exactly it was that made it uncomfortable for you?

Everyone is different, but I liked my GT UL and slept in it several times. I have since given it to my grandson. I did not like how the TQ was hard to keep inside of it. It is a narrow hammock and some folks find it hard to get a diagonal lay because of that.
I would suggest you try the tablecloth hammock as mentioned above, you can't go wrong with it. :thumbup: Also, you have many colors to choose from.

Simple; diagonal lay was impossible while keeping my feet in the hammock. I'm 6'1".

I have a hard time with that as well... That and the calf ridge have me looking for bigger with a bugnet... Weight weenie micro and the buginator should be comparable weight to my grand trunk with hammock bliss bug net...
