What would you recommend for making a hammock that will hold 300# (roughly two people sitting in it)? Ultra-light isn't a major concern of course lighter is better, of more concern is price (college students gotta eat ya know :D). I like the feel of taffeta but wasn't sure about the strength of it.

Check out the 1.9 ripstop 2nds at Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics(www.owfinc.com). It is 60" wide and if you double the material you should have no issues at all. I can say this because I am 300+ and use the material in a DIY GE DL hammock as my primary hammock. You will need 8yds for a DL GEH. I recommend the brown, close to the popular coyote color, the black or the ACU camo. I have made hammocks out of all these material colors with no issues, I am my own test weight!!!!!!
