Katadyn Guide filter. This filter has been discontinued but Katadyn does still make the filter elements. I used this twice on one group trip. The filter was cleaned and stored properly when I got home. Clean and no funk:D It filters fast around 1 1/2 quarts per minute. Is it just a filter or is it a purifier like current Hiker models? I'm not familiar with that model, but I'm interested if it works the same as the Hiker.
It does work like the hiker model. On the box it says "Safety level 2" and "Meets EPA purifier standards for bacteria and protozoa". I still think neither this or the hiker model are purifiers. These two take care of most microorganisms, bacteria and giardia. A purifier removes all microorganisms and viruses. Hope this helps!Quote:
