After being inspired by all the Turtlestands, I tried making one of my own.
I went to Lowes and picked up 6 2x2's. Most if not all of the wood was warped or twisted, but I picked out the best I could find. Each one was $1.52. I cut them down to 7' each.
Other supplies were:
(1) 1 3/8" 10'6" top rail $8.99
(2) 1 3.8" rail end $3.00
(2) Extra heavy 6" T-Hinge $9.94
Hardware
(4) 5/16" Stainless Steel anchor shackle $17.72
(4) 1/4"-20x2" stainless bolt $4.72
(3) 1/4" stainless washers $7.50
(2) 1/4"-20 stainless nuts $4.58
I also went to West Marine and picked up 10' of 3mm Vectran V-12 line. It was $9.18. They did not have Amsteel, and the Vectran had a breaking strength of 1,600 lbs. and very low stretch. I used this line to hang the pole from the hinges/shackles.
I used about 10' of Zing-It for each spread limiter. The bottoms of the 2x2's are about 4' apart from each other.
