I have a possible source of these that I could sell for about $55 but would have to order 100 to get this price. The one I saw was very nice with a taped seem and nylon tie outs ( I think), very nice but no stuff sack. Do you think they would sell ?

Who would your target audience be?
I think I'd try to understand the market pretty well before committing $5500 to the idea. It might be worthwhile to buy just a few, even at a higher price, and see what sort of price you could get for them, realistically -- even if you had to sell at a loss. Chalk it up as the cost of market research. Better a small loss to protect against a potentially larger one later on.
IMHO
I think he means he can SELL them for $55 each ... so his cost would be much less than that to realistically make a profit on them. Then you have quality of the product, colors available ... a whole lot more than I'd want to deal with. But then I probably would have a tough time selling water to a guy in the desert. ;)
Guess that's why I'm in Engineering and manufacturing rather than marketing!
True. I found his statement ambiguous, though:"I could sell for about $55 but would have to order 100 to get this price."At any rate, he'd have to put out a couple of K, at least. Nice, if you can afford it.
I'm with you on that! :laugh:Quote:

I'm an E.E., myself... 'nuff said. :DQuote:

My expectation of selling them to the folks on this forum would not be optimistic. We are a pretty opinionated bunch with some very good vendors and manufacturers already in place. That is to say I suspect _this_ market is fairly well saturated. There might indeed be a market for them outside of this forum. Further... that's just my own observation and I could be off base. Given what I've seen and read people looking for that size tarp are much more likely to go for an OES or JRB and spend the money for known quality. If cost is the factor the Sportman Guide tarps are hard to beat at almost half the price you coan swing for these. SG tarps are not sil I grant you. But I still think you would have a tough time in the forums.
Selling the on e-bay may be a very lucrative possibility. I have no clue what goes on there.
