VA SNP backpacking trip central section June 14-16

I have June 14-16 to do a couple of nights in SNP. This would be a backpacking trip not a car camping trip. I have not picked a trail as of yet but will be along water most of the hike. So fishing, waterfalls, maybe even some swimming holes to cool off if its hot I'm brining my fly rod so i may be taking a few fishing stops along the trail. We would meet at the HYW 33 entrance of the park late morning on Friday. If there is any interest let me know, as of the moment I'm flexible and open to any input.

I'm thinking of doing this trip . Only thing is I have got a birthday party that Sunday for my twins so I would have to be out early. what kind of miles you thinking?

Hey Visionary lion, like I said I'm flexible. We can get an early start on Sunday no problem. I know the park very well so no extra miles on the last day. You know what I'm talking about.

I'd like to do this. I need to get a good pack but I'm going to make a run to REI this weekend so hopefully I'll have that out of the way.

So if I can get my crap together, take a day off and get permission from my pregnant wife count me in. :D

You should be able to fish any of the river waters in the Valley with an ultra light setup.

Single hook artificial lure only rules in the park. It's all trout up there so if your not into fishing I'm sure you'll find something to keep you busy

Closer to Elkton (west side of park) and Standardsville (east side of park). it would be the park entrance off of Hwy 33.

Sucks but count me and destikahr(dayglow) out...Both of us are desperately saving for more supplies to make gear. I wanna get some UQs made for me and my wife before the fall and Destikahr needs me to make him a Tarp..I'm sick of dealing with pads and he is sick of carrying a bulky, heavy home depot tarp....We both decided to cut back on our trips for the next two months to save money. So come August we will be back in the game and doing our Bi-Weekly trips.

Yeah it sucks so bad when I have to miss out on trips or cancel them...I had 2 other trips planned this summer and I had to cancel those plans also..

Don't have one yet I will post but like I said it will be with it 10-15 miles North or south of HWY33 in SNP. IF no one is fishing and there is no dogs the trail is still up for grabs. There is about five different trails i'm looking at right now.

Very interested, but need to verify available free time. I'm a PATC Trail Patroller generally hiking in the SNP / Old Rag area. Just did a quick overnight at Sky Meadows last night. Love to meet up for this or any other northern VA group hang. I'll let ya know if it becomes definite.

As of right now it's just you and me, anyone is welcome to join. My buddy might meet up with us on Saturday morning. I have 4 different hikes that i'm have not decided on but all have water along a lot of the hike. If your not into fishing other options open up. I'll let you decide what time you want to meet up on Friday since your drive will be longer. If we meet at the park entrance on Hwy 33 we can both get into the park with my pass.

I have a national parks pass as well and the last time i went fishing, outside of a boat, i ended up catching my own ear and tying a butterfly in my fly line. but if you want to fish im game. tank and aura would love to swim
