Sym to Asym?
I have an older model HH Scout, bought used (and netless) from Tom Hennessey several years ago. It is NOT asymetrical.
I'm a side sleeper, and I can't seem to get a good diagonal sweet spot with it. :(
I was thinking of moving the tieouts to be asym, like my ULB.
Do you think this would work, or am I being overly optimistic?
It's either that, or I'm ripping the netting off my ULB !!
What do you think?

I would think that it would work fine.

I would try it without using any tie outs to see if you can find a spot you like first. With my HH netless explorer I never use the tie outs.

The bottom would probably go asym easy enough but the top/netting wiuld pick up a forced wrinkle or two because it is not cut asym... probably would still work... you can try it with two of those tarp grip clips... no sewing, no perminent mod....

Thank you for the responses!
I think I will go ahead and try some temporaty gizmo first to see how it hangs, then make the switch if it's a go.
I guess what I REALLY need to do is make my own "custom" hammock, eh? :D
I can feel a serious addiction coming on.... ut ohhhhhh....

I went ahead and did it!
I decided to throw caution to the wind and go ahead and change my Scout non-asym to an asym. :)
It seemed a bit intimidating at first, but once I got the stitches pulled and saw how simply done they are, it was pretty easy to move the pullouts to a more asym location. I used my ULB to figure out where to position them.
I'll see if I can give it a try tomorrow.
I'm really hoping I can get a lot flatter and better on the diagonal now!

Just thinking out loud, but, isn't "non-asym" a double negative.
Just messin' with ya'.:D

if you're feelin froggy you could rip out the net and cut a new asym piece to match your new pull tab location. probably wouldn't be too bad. i could give you some tips if you are seriously considering it.
did you copy the asym pull tab location or did you place them in a custom spot? i personally like my pull tabs a bit closer to the head and feet than a hh has.

Warbonnetguy, this was a HH with the netting already removed (bought it used). I love using the netless during the bugless months!
When I measured this one (Scout model), it was actually a couple inches longer than my ULB, so I just kinda slid the pullout points down a bit more towards the hammock ends. Seemed to make sense.
No chance to take it out back and give it a try today. :( Maybe tomorrow though.
