Thanks for the video. I've been debating between the edge and the BMJ, and I think I'm now leaning towards the edge.

Ok so here is an image of my WBBB with Golite poncho tarp. The WBBB is hung a little low so it is not quite as efficiently covered as I would like but I think with minimal adjustment is would work out pretty well in a light rain. The only concern I would have with this tarp is splashing rain hitting my UQ. I'll try to get another photo soon with the UQ and tarp pitched better.
11 feet I think. The trick is to tie drip lines just under the tarp to redirect any rain. It is close that is for sure.
No worries. Definitely not my setup for the rainy season but great for summer and late spring!
I saw long-distance AT hiker using an 8x8 diamond tarp, but she was not using a B-bird. I sometimes us a diamond Asym tarp made of Spinntex (5 ounces rigged and in stuff sack (Z-packs sells them in cuben) ,with my blackbird. If you get a surprise storm, you could use your poncho or a garbage back to help with coverage. Since you are using it as a fair weather tarp, it would provide good coverage to keep off dew, pinecones, acorns, bird poo, etc. Only uses 2 stakes and you can orient a diamond Asym tarp to cover pretty decently (You might have to not stake out the shelf of the B-bird, since the tarp won't cover it too well; I leave the shelf on mine unstaked when using the Asym tarp).
What I did with my small ZPacks Diamond Asym this past week. The rain was blowing in toward the foot end so I strung up my rain skirt to block most of it, then used my pack cover, the blue shown in the pic, over the very end of the hammock. Last I zipped up my rain jacket around the head end of my hammock. Completely covered and kept me dry, even in light/heavy blowing rain. Best part is I used stuff that I already carry making my tarp setup stay at 3.4 oz.
[Edit] By the way, that is a Warbonnet Blackbird under all that. :)
Brilliant! Will have to try that. Did you have the pullouts staked?
