About 6 oz using dynaglide whoopies, zing it ridgeline, and 1/16" shock cord for side tie outs.
I actually just did this about a week ago so those are my figures from 25oz 1.1 single black bird before to about 19oz after including stuff sack

Yes I had the adjustible webbing with dutch clips.
I live in East Patchogue but grew up in Bay Shore.

Agreed...we need to protect the bark, and the straps are the easiest way to do that. There may be a lighter way...search for TeeDee's and TiredFeet's posts about putting sticks between the rope and tree. Personally, I don't think the grams saved are worth the hassle of it, but if that fits your system then you might want to try it. They seem happy with it.
