We will be coming down on Saturday (sorry about the confusion). With the high winds forecast we will most likely be changing our plans anyway. My wife is still fairly new to hiking and I was trying to just do a simple hike that she could enjoy. IMO if the winds are going to be gusting up to 40 mph I don’t think she would like the challenge of dodging branches and heaven forbid blow downs. We may just arrive at the park around 2-3:00pm and see if there is anything we can do to help set up for the dinner later in the evening.
Safe travels and a great time to all who are going to the MAHHA Hang this weekend. Y'all have a great time, hope to see you uns in the spring!
I had to work 1/2 day today.
I plan on parking at Turners Gap and hiking in. Putting in around 3:00pm
Might make it to Crampton Gap tonight OR in the morning.
Can anyone headed in today make sure the pre-hike crew got the note I left them? Hiked out of the shelter solo this morning and started feeling sick - decided to drive the hour home to restock on food, seam seal my new tarp and trying to get better so I don't miss out on the rest of the weekend. I'll be there early tomorrow morning. Thanks in advance!
A few photos from the 2011 Fall MAHHA Hang - just to prove it really did take place...
Had a great time on my first group hang - and hope to be able to attend many more in the future!
Thanks to all involved.
I forgot my tree straps at the campsite. Did anyone see them? I was hanging down at the trail intersection near the shelter.
I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached.
