Kiba and I are at it again. It's been unusually warm here in Mn so we decided to head on north to find some colder weather. ArcsandSparks from the forums came along too for a fun romp in the woods. We ate Porterhouse steaks, messed around with the zip cam and tested out a lot of new gear. I think I'm all ready for the frozen butt hang next week. :) Thanks for watching!
Nice video! I wanna camp with Fronkey so I can get a porterhouse!! :D
I think it's awesome that you have Kiba in the hammock with you, I've seen that in one of your previous vids, but I've always wondered about something. Is it any worry that her nails will rip the fabric? My little buddy Dixie is almost exactly Kiba's size and I would love to take her on the trail with me, but I'm worried about her nails putting us both on the ground and ruining my hammock! :scared:

Nice vid, nice tarp, nice steak! Should have made the tarp manufacturer drive out and fix-it for you, oh wait, it was a DIY. Better hope I never have trouble w/my new hammock. Wed. TZ and I should hit -10F:D in Finland. Cya at the hang.

Fun out in the cold. I used to have a pup to camp with. My old friend passed on, but watching your vid brought back some good memories.
I love how hammock camping lends itself perfectly to improvization. I too have had to do some quick modifications in the field without any negative outcome to the trip. Good for you to keep thinking on your feet.
P.S. thanks for the Diaz tools cameo. Cool wrap! It's fun to see the diferent wraps that folks use for those neck knives.
BTW> when you comin' out to the Pacific NW to hang?

Kiba has spent a ton of nights in the hammock and we've never had a problem. I keep up with trimming her nails and I would actually be surprised if she could bust through the fabric because she's just so light.
Give it a shot, I'm sure Dixie would love it. :)
Thanks for watching!

Thanks man! Looking forward to the upcoming hang and I'm so jealous I can't go with you and TZ. Stupid cruise line crash has made me so swamped with work I might actually miss out on going to the FBH. :(

There's no better friend on the trail than a dog. :D
I've shot a bunch of vid of your knives and going to film some more at the frozen butt hang. Then make a fun video about them. The only complaint I have is how many times I've cut myself with them because they're so sharp.
As for the Pacific NW... I BADLY want to hang there and am going to try and plan a trip out there for next year. I want to see some of your awesome woods again!

I like the way you tap the seasoning on your steak – tap, tap, tap! lol I suppose one good thing about the cold, cold snow is, you don’t have to worry about meat going off. The dramatic music was pretty good. The wood chunk trick might come in handy one day, thanks for that. Those moccasins look nice as... the reviews are good too. Thanks for the video (a bit longer would have been good) and I hope you make one for the frozen butt hang next week!

Love the videos with Kiba! I was a K9 handler for my first 10 years in the military and really miss that companionship. Had a HUGE German Shepherd that would keep me warm during a winter in Korea...not hammock material though.
Your video made me think of the last dog I worked with. We did a lot of presidential and other DV support, traveled quite a bit and stayed in a lot of hotels. That dog was great at explosive detection but seriously lacked survival skills. We would check in, head to the room, I would open the door, and he would bolt to the bed or sofa (whichever had the best angle to the TV) and wait for me to turn it on for him. Ridiculously spoiled, he was. Would not eat chicken, only beef. Hated wet or cold ground so much that he would pick one paw up at a time on a rotational basis so at least one paw was not on the ground. Very quirky until it was time to sniff bombs or bite people :D Great dog to finish up that part of my career with but WOW, I could not imagine him out in the woods.
Thanks for the video...and all the other great ones as well.

When she's walking/running in the woods she is perfectly fine. But, she does get a little cold when we are sitting down so she just lays by the fire or
on my lap. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...6/IMG_0235.jpg

Thanks so much Jay.
It sounds like that dog was really good at his job though. :) At first hammocking with a dog was a pain. Getting her to sit still and not freak out at every sound took a lot of practice... months of practice. But, now she will jump right on in for bed time and lay there the whole time until I move her. I don't even think it would be possible to be comfy in the hammock with a bigger dog.
Thanks again for watching.

I'm digging the zip cam, are you using a fancy setup or some para-cord/zing-it from tree to tree?
Kiba doesn't discriminate against other hammocks... interesting... I'll be sure to bring biscuits when we finally get to hang together!
Speaking of Kiba..... KIBA!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome wrap job with the neck knife, very similar to mine. Putting the knife back into the sheath one handed is difficult, so I had Dutch make a handy dandy clip that works pretty sweet.
Thanks for the vid Fronks!

That's awesome you're dog loves the woods. The thing I've learned with hammocking with a dog isn't the weight that's the problem, but the body mass in there. It would just be awkward and uncomfortable in my opinion to have a huge pup in there with you. But, if you lower your hammock and have him sleep on the ground, it's pretty dang close. :) Thanks for watching.
