I give an overview of how one can add webbing based suspension to a hammock. In particular I show
making a figure-8 knot at the end of webbing, for a carbiner
hanging a hammock that has webbing suspension and carbiners at both ends
adding rings to the end of a hammock with a channel, using the channel, and attaching around the hammock body
using the JRB triglide system
There isn't much here for the hammock cognoscenti, unless you like seeing me hit the ground because I had the knot in the loop ring on which SMC rings are attached in the wrong place. Lesson : knot next to rings means the prusik knot is not pinching as it should.
Now I'm teeing up another one that focuses on suspension techniques based on cord.

Someone should point out that the SMC rings can be tied onto the stock HH rope with no modidfications to the actual hammock. That was what I did with my Scout until I sold it. That might be a bridge onto the rings & webbing for the newbie HH owners.
I giggled when you slipped to the ground... :)

How to video re suspension
That is a GREAT video, Grizz. It sums up some 100 sum pages, and two threads in a video format! Thanks so much for giving us visual types something to focus on in doing our suspension swap outs. I have used the ring and webbing method on my DD hammock.

Great video Griz! Thanks for condensing and simplifying, and making it look as easy as it is.
I'm using the mason's line thru the channel technique with rings. For my hammock I have a straight channel on the head end and a "W" channel on the foot end. This gives me a bump for the knees.
Speaking from experience, the slippery half hitch is IMPORTANT!

Nice vid, Grizz! Nice job on editing and sound levels, too - it was enjoyable to watch.
The only downside is, after reading the earlier replies, I was anxiously waiting to see you wide-eyed as you were rapidly flung earthward but, alas, you didn't skip a beat as you slowly sunk down!

I want to know where you got a $9 hammock!

pssst: I think they were actually $16, I got 2 also. They were a fairly quick sale on an otherwise commerical backyard hammock place.

THANKS!!!
I'm waiting on a WB BB and will surely have quick success thanks to your vid.
Now if you and Mr. Shug could hook up what a hoot that would be :)

Grizz,
I've heard you say one time that you are a mathematician. Are you a probabilist by any chance? I had to smile when I heard you say "almost surely, when using rings, you're going to want to put a stopper knot in"
