I am going to order two from Ebay. I puchased the quilt clips from Clover, I really like them for some things, I found they are not holding my my silnylon, they just slip off the layers I am trying to hold together. I went back to pinning with quilt pins, they are long and have glass heads that are large, easy to handle.

What size grossgrain is the most popular or generally accepted to use?

Binder feet were a common attachment on most older straight stitch machines I usually keep my old free Westinghouse set up with a 3/4 binder.

+1 for the ironing, I've done it and it certainly helps with the 1.5"+ stuff.
I came up with an alternate way of doing folded over grosgrain for my JCP UQ this weekend. I could only find 7/8" grosgrain around here which really wasn't enough to fold in half and leave a channel. So I just took two lengths one on top of the other and sewed the edges together and bam I had grosgrain that was the right size AND it stayed "folded" no problem!
