[QUOTE=Hedcase;170009]... no major accidents, only some scratches and dirt under fingernails and in the hair:D The more I watched these kids running around without the overprotective watchful eye of mom saying don't get dirty, don't throw rocks, don't do that, don't do this, the more I realized these kids need a yes weekend!! They did what they wanted to do with a little guidance from dad. We all had a great time! ...[IMG]
Both of my kids and I have participated in the YMCA Indians program since they were 5. These weekends with dad were great for all of us. With my son's group we made the mistake one time of letting one of the moms attend a campout. She about had a heart attack trying to keep the kids ...out of the creeek, in plain sight, not climbing trees, rocks, etc:scared:.... Soimetimes its nice just to allow them to run a little wild with few restrictions!
In Pisgah National Forest they love to go to the White Pines primitive camping area. Avery Creek in front of the tent and a mountain behind. Only rule on the boys was stay together and no playing in the fire!;)
It's nice when mom goes camping with us, but sometimes the boys have just gotta be boys! Enjoy the time and take lots of pictures!

Gage has been going with me since he was out of diapers. He is 6 now and loves to go Crappie fishing, camping and now (a little anyway) hiking.
Love the photos!

Great trip, looks like a blast, I have to get my little guy out for a trip this summer. My five year old had a blast this summer on the trips and hikes we took. Just took my 2 year old out to lunch with dad at McD's while his brother was in school, lots of fun just to spend time hanging out. Taught the older one how to build a fire this spring, not that he is ready to do it himself yet but he liked it and on the next trip he wanted to help gather wood and get things ready. Good times. :D

Very cool! Good to hear from ya' Hedcase!:D
I'm still working on getting mine to give up the pop-up, and strap a pack on, and hit the trail! It'll come in time I believe.
I've already got one that loves her hammock, and is excited about the whoopie sling!

Great Dad skills man (done in the voice of Napoleon Dynamite ) :)
It is nice to get em out when they are young and still think yer Kool and have all the answers.
These times are what forms the bonds we share with our kids.
