I got my two Incubator 0*s last night. I was #1105 from the Thanksgiving Sale. I asked if I was going to get them by my camping trip & I'm just amazed that they did exactly what they said they'd do. What outstanding C.S. from a cottage industry shop.

(Unfortunately, my snow camping trip with my daughter & her friend fell through, due to work.)

The UQs look outstanding and I'm definitely impressed. Beautiful stitching.

They will be much warmer than my two 3/4 length UQs. They have loops all along the length, just like I wanted, along with the draft collars on both ends. One in camo too!

I liked everything about dealing with Adam & Jenny. Quick response to emails, prompt service, excellent products & great prices. All of this in their busiest time of the year.

I can tell you that if I find myself needing some more UQs, they will be HammockGear!

I'm all excited too. I'm #1152, and I got the email this morning. My Incubator is supposed to be here tomorrow!!!

Sorry to hear that you had to cancel your trip. I'm thinking of making a tradition out of hanging on New Years Eve since we don't exactly party anymore.

I was order #1239 and received my shipping notice email yesterday. I was beginning to get worried as I have a group hang to attend the first weekend of January.

I'm sure that you'll have it by then.

I went out and did a test hang in my (unheated) shed. Warm all the way along, except where I didn't have the UQ tight to my back. I think I had too much sag in my hammock, resulting in my butt pushing down the middle. I could feel a gap of a couple of inches under my shoulders.

Glad I'm able to do a test hang at home at 30* instead of trying to keep a couple of 14 YOA girls warm in the snow at 20*! I love the draft collars. I snugged up the ends with the shock cords and it kept the air from moving through. Kind of like wrist seals on a wetsuit. Keeps the warmth from flowing out so fast.

Could the draft collars contribute to the gap you are describing?

No, it's because the hammock has more of a bannana shape and the UQ has more of a flat shape. The middle of the hammock drops more and touches the UQ tight. Where my shoulders are - there's about a 3" gap. At the head and foot, the draft collars are touching the hammock.

I've read about the triangle thingies and they would probably help. I'm just wondering if there's another way. I was thinking maybe a shock cord through a couple of the loops sewn in along the edges?

You might try tightening up the suspension and loosening the end cinch cords a little so the ends can pull up around you more.

Yea, I need to tweek it a bit. I'll try to tighten the suspension first.

I also saw a thread about a quazy Triangle by putting a biner on the ridgeline and using a line from the gathered end of the line to the biner (about a foot in from the gathered end) and then running a line from one of the loops on the UQ up through the biner and then back down to the opposing loop. Looked like a great idea.

It can certainly help if other tweaks don't get you there.

Earlier in the fall, my Burrow suffered a blowout in the footbox...imagine the sick feeling upon seeing a footbox full of fluffy, white escapees. Sick, I rolled the quilt up to contain the damage, and when I got home, I emailed Adam to inquire about repairs. At that time, the quilt was going on two years old, and was well used...I was not looking for warranty service, but needed to find someone who could make the needed repairs, and fully expected to pay for said repairs.

I had no more than hit send, than my phone rang. It was Adam, who insisted that I send the quilt back for a no charge repair. All of my arguing fell on deaf ears...long story short, my quilt was replaced. I still feel guilty about this, and swear that I'll find a way to make this right.

I got the hook up recently from them as well. I won't state the details but it was pretty cool what they did. I'm hooked.

I ordered a 0* Burrow and Incubator right after the Black Friday sale... Yeah, I still kicking myself for missing that. I did get in on the free shipping.

This weekend is the Kansas hang. So I pinged Adam and Jenny right after the 1st of the year to get an idea if there was a snowball's chance that I might get the quilts in time. Jenny advised me that the quilts would be shipped on Friday priority mail. They were waiting for me when I got home tonight and they are amazingly beautiful.

They really came through for me! Thank you Adam and Jenny!

So, some problems today that I'd been having. Maybe someone out there will get some help from this post. I've been trying to figure out which end was the head & which was the tail (I have a couple of new Incubator 0*s). I had tried to hold the two ends up to each other; however, I found that the width of the two ends was virtually identical. I had two different colors of S biners, too.

I called HammockGear today to ask how to sort out the ends. I told them to just leave me an email with their directions/response.

However, Adam called me back within 10 minutes. He said that he felt that he'd be better able to expain/help via phone.

Adam said that you actually have to lay the UQ flat out on the ground (not holding the ends up together like I was doing) to figure it out. He said that they had specified that the HG logo patch should go on the left shoulder; however, they weren't sure that the ones going out around Thanksgiving had all been done this way. He said that the biners weren't put on the head end or tail for sure - they may get switched, so you can't tell that way either.

He said that the new design is tapered along the length, as well as in a 3 dimensional way. He said that when layed out on the floor, you'll see the head end quickly widen into the shoulders and then gradually taper to the foot end. I asked him if this was similar to a pine coffin lid. He confirmed that this was the shape I was looking for. He explained that there was also a taper in the way the UQ hung. He said that there was a more deeply "rounded" dip (relative to the head of the hammock at the ridgeline) where the torso lies. He said that it goes up quickly and then gradually tapers along the legs towards the ridgeline at the foot. I had not realized that they had put so much 3D engineering into the shape of the UQ.

I was also having a problem with a dip in the UQ between my shoulders, causing a 2" gap & cold air. I mentioned it and that I had gotten a couple of bungees from the 2Jacks to hold up the middle on the new loops along the sides. He said that I should actually try tightening the bungee about 3" or 4" up from the first tie off location, to make it hang tighter to the bottom. He also suggested making sure that the end bungees were not too tight, creating a "U" shaped gap at the ends. The third suggestion, which I had not heard of before: there is a grossgrain loop on either end of the UQ between the two corners (which I had seen, but not thought of). He said that if you attach this loop up at the gathered ends, it will cause the middle of the UQ to pull up & more closely follow the centerline of the bottom of the hammock - thus making it tighter all along the center of the hammock from one end to the other.

All of that from an unexpected phone call. Again, what great service!
