Hello from AZ
I'm James, I started lurking here about a month ago when I went camping with some hangers. I spent the night tossing and turning on the ground waiting for the sun so I could get up, while the hangers snored happily away in their swinging quilted cocoons.
The next day I had them give me all the info about their setups and I started looking around at gear. The Whoopie sling blew my mind. I've started to convert, but I have to keep my ground setup as long as I live in AZ. I think hanging on a saguaro is illegal, and we have a shortage of trees in some areas.
I should be moving in the next few months, so I'll probably end up somewhere with more trees, which means I can hang more. I would love to not have to camp on the ground anymore. I'm tired of slopes and rocks and goat's heads.
I've learned a lot on here, and look forward to learning more.

Welcome James! Once you spend your first night in a hammock you will be spoiled for life. The lack of trees is a bummer if you are car camping you might consider a portable hammock stand.

WELCOME TO THE TREES!!!!!!! Oh man, I avoid the ground like the plague... Hammocks aren't for everyone but for me they're the cat's meow....

I think you will find plenty of AZ hangers around here, and they always seem to find some outstanding places to hang.

I do miss the trees. They went into hiding in central AZ. I think the cacti scared them off in a big gang war years ago.

The trees didn't go into hidding, they just retreated to the higher ground. Welcome to your new addiction.
