Welcome to the forum, everyone here is very helpfull. Plus there is more than enough information here to keep you busy for a while.
Thanks! I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment. I have definitely been searching for beginner guides on here. I feel like I'm running in three directions at once which means I need to focus.
We had a SoCal mini hang in Aug. Hope to add to the next one we have.:woot:
Welcome to HF from Mass.
Welcome to the forums from west Texas.
Welcome aboard from Florida. Enjoy the fun!
Welcome. Like you, I am new here and have suffered from information overload. :) I found for me keeping a notepad handy and scribbling notes helped. Might just be some undiagnosed OCD thing in me, but it helped narrow down what I was looking for.
Welcome from Bama!
You'll get it all sorted out. There is a great chance of mandatory info overload, which makes you stay on here searching day and night. But, that's not a bad thing.
Great trail name, by the way!
Great tip! I nerd out that way too except it's digital for me. I end up saving lots of URLs using a word processor's outline function.

That example is probably not even correct but that's the most knowledge that I can throw out at the top of my head.
Whooo buddy, you bet there are!:D
Enjoy the Shugster.
Searching is great and you'll learn a lot...maybe too much. I believe that the information is much more absorbable (not a real word :D) when you have some personal experience to draw from while you are learning. I say just jump right in! Get yourself some inexpensive basics and start playing. There isn't anything all that difficult to hanging until you start hanging around here. Course, this place is chuck full of nerds! Much love to the hammock nerds, geeks, quants, and lest we forget mathaletes. Therefore, we tend to make things complicated sometimes just for the sheer joy of it.
Seriously, get something and get out there, then come back with questions or new search term ideas. Otherwise, you risk brain-rupture and nobody wants that.
Assuming you aren't already locked-up in a padded room unable to read this, welcome to the Forums!
We were up here in Big bear For our hang.
Lizzie and her nephew were there.
