Rigging for a new tarp?

I've got my hammock planned, the suspension using whoopie slings and webbing for the tree, a adustable ridgeline and now I need to know the recommended way to hang a tarp. Your best suggestion as to which rope/line is best and the proper way to set it up. I'm always reading through the forums and have ordered some hardware from Dutch. I'm a little confused as to do you run your line as one from one tree to the other or do you do it one edge of the tarp on each side to its tree. How do you do it and would you change or recommend your style. Thanks for any info. I'm thinking of a 8 by 10 or 10 by 12 silnylong tarp.

Seriously, you can do it any of those ways.
No ridgeline. Just tie tieout of tarp to tree. Less weight, more stress on tarps/tieout.
Ridgeline under tarp. I think this is easiest. Taut roof peak may have strength benefirs in snow.
Ridgeline under tarp. Requires prussic knot or some other method to hang tarp from ridgeline above. Better than tarp over ridgeline for keeping rain out.
There are many knots and many gadgets for attaching.
I use only knots. You can Google truckers hitch, slippery half hitch, tautline, prusik for knots you can get by on.
Also look at Dehojas illustrations on hammock basics.

I like to use a full length ridgeline with the tarp under the line and attached using prussiks on the line and clipping in with small beaners (or you could use toggles or soft shackles). I like that I can adjust the tarp as needed for coverage without untying anything and it is one less line for water to run down and come underneath the tarp.

I use a Dutch Hook on one end and a Tarp Flyz on the other. Seems to work well.

I do have the flynz and dutch hook on the way and will experiment with your setup. Thanks for the info.

I use a CRL (Continuous RidgeLine) that passes above the tarp, rather than under. I use kleimheist knots to attach the tarp to the ridgeline.

I use a cheap carabiner at one end (I'd rather have the line or the 'biner fail than the tarp; they're easier and cheaper to replace/repair than the tarp) to attach the line to one tree. I then run the free end around the other tree and place a cow hitch using loops in the line to hold a trail stick. The line goes over the hitch (not the stick!) and back towards the tree on the same side that it came from to tighten the CRL. Wrap back around the tree to give yourself some slack when you tie off, and use a pair of half-hitches around the line itself (on the tarp side of the cow hitch) to secure it.

It takes me about thirty seconds to put up and take down, and requires no extra equipment carried other than the 'biner (and, even there, I could get away with simply tying a pair of half-hitches if I wanted to).

I use the continuous single ridgeline from whoopieslings.com to run between both trees. Tarp is conected with prussics, which makes adjustents idiot-proof. I run the ridgeline over the tarp usually, but I will also run it under the tarp if I suspect heavy wind or precipitation.

i tend to like to run my RL above the tarp . reson being the first time i set up a new tarp .i got a nice rain that night .. the rain ran down the RL under the tarp and dripped right on me .

I've ordered the exact same setup from whoopieslings.com, as well as the tarp guy line tensioners two weeks ago. Can't wait to try them out. I'm going to use the tarp ridge line over the top of tarp.

I also use whoopieslings 30 ft continuous ridgeline. So simple and works perfect.
