Hammock Hanging Rules
- Never hang higher that you want to fall
- If you do, wear a safety harness and don't forget to attach a safety line
- Do not hang from a dead tree
- Do not hang over or under a wasp nest
- Always test your gear under controlled conditions before using it in the woods
- Manufactures product temperatures ratings are often wrong.
- You can never have too many hammocks (TQ's, UQ's, tarps ect)
- Any hang you can walk away from is a good hang
- If you did not learn anything from your last hang then you are doing something wrong.
- If you need X number of tie out lines and or stakes, you will find that you have X-1 when you try to set up your hammock and tarp.
- The trees at the site with the best view are either too close together or too far apart to hang from
- Knots that will not come untied will when you are hanging from them
- No tanlge line...will
- Tell the Park Ranger you are using a “suspended tent”
- Do not argue with the Park Ranger, offer to show then the benefits of hammock camping.
- Practice LNT...Leave No Trace
- The view is always better from a hammock.
- Kids love hammocks
