CA>NorCal>No Idea > November 9th??
Hey everyone, I'll be moving into your state in less than two weeks and want to figure out a hang for the first weekend I'm there. Does anyone have some suggestions on some backpacking spots to hang a hammock?
I would like to avoid car camping and prefer to hike into a campsite or even some woods where I can camp wherever. I am living in the Grass Valley area, but don't mind driving a little.
Also, anyone who wants to come is for sure welcome to share a fire. :)

Another vote for the Yuba River
You'll be in Grass Valley, the Yuba is only about an hour away.
That time of year I will avoid Tahoe and the high Sierras. Could snow on you or be very wet/cold. Not that it's bad to have some snow, you just never know how much you'll get or if your car will be stuck miles down a dirt road. Once it hits November, I will usually wait until the beginning of the year once the snow has consolidated and I can pull a sled.
The coast is nice this time of year. However, since you are in GV, I would hit the Yuba, it's in your back yard.

Here is a cool hike that could be done with two cars:
