Ridge line suspension
Hi all. I have been using a hammock, a Clark Jungle 4 Season, for about a year now and am having a problem. The problem is that I'm a big guy, 6' at about 285 lbs, and when I sleep in my hammock it winds up dragging on the ground by morning. I have been using the tree straps that came with it, I also swapped out the poly ropes for some cord I got from REI. I am considering going to a ridge line suspension with the hammock tied to it using prusik knots. I am hoping that this will solve my problem of waking up with my butt on the ground. Has anyone had a similar problem and if so, what did you do to solve it? I may even go back to using the poly ropes that came with the hammock. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated as I am hoping to do a fall camping trip in October. Like camping in the cold.
Thx

It sounds like you are using nylon tree straps. Get a pair of polyester tree straps and you won't have the stretch issues anymore.
I would also go ahead and pick up a ridgeline, it will allow you to get the right amount of sag every time.

The ropes from REI are almost guaranteed to be nylon. Nylon rope will stretch over and over again. Polyester is a much better choice. Simply switching back to the original suspension ropes will cure your troubles.

Where would I get the poly tree straps?

All of us vendors that participate on the forums offer high quality polyester tree straps made just for hammocks.

Thanks, going to look into the AHE poly straps.
