Hammocks are changing the world! Or at least boat stores in Nashville...

So, I called my local West Marine to see if they had AmSteel in stock. The lady who answered the phone immediately asks "Is this for a hammock?" LOL Cracked me up. She said she started carrying AmSteel in the store just because of people looking for it for whoopie slings. She also said that she sells more of it for hammocking than boating by far.

Just thought I'd pass this story along... I found it amusing, and thought other people might, too. :)

And FWIW, they have silver/gray in stock. :D I'll be going by tomorrow.

They'll price-match what Redden Marine sells it for (with the HammockForums discount), so make sure you show that to them and you'll get a pretty good discount on it there, plus the joy of instant gratification.

If I remember correctly, you go to their web site, place your order in the cart and there should be a location for a coupon code at checkout. I think the code was Hammock. But I could be mistaken.

Oh, ok. Google to the rescue. Found this link. :)

Even just having them pricematch to $0.23/ft will save me $5 since I'm planning on picking up 100ft. :)

I asked for a price match at West Marine for the Redden price and they said they'd give it to me at $.20 a foot! Dunno why they decided to beat the Redden price but they did.

That's pretty freaking hilarious. I need to go to West Marine that's located around and see if that happens!

I bought mine from the same West Marine in Hermitage. They Don't keep the 7/64 in stock, only the 1/16 or thicker I think. I ordered the 7/64 on the Internet and had it ship to the store for free.

She told me today that she had started keeping it in stock for the hammockers, but I'll double check tomorrow before I leave to make sure its 7/64 before I drive all the way up there from Brentwood. :)
