Though it is a bit heavy, I thought this was kinda neat and was wondering if anyone in this forum has one. It might be good for car camping.

That is both really cool and really weird all at the same time. It took a couple looks to see the hammock part of it. At 3 lbs 9oz it is still about a pound lighter than my TNF tent I sent back to REI and used the money for my hh.
The only issue that I would see is hanging really close to the ground. That and you would loose the site selection advantages of hammocks. But yeah for car camping and if you have the money I would like to see some pics in action.
Ya know, that is kinda neat. All said and done, it still appears to be lighter than most tents. I don't know how comfy I'd be that close to the ground, though. The two positives I can see for it are:
1) It's different
2) At least it's till not sleeping on the ground.
I think that's a really cool concept. I really like the tarp design. Anybody think it's a little shady that there is no pic, only a drawing?
I didn't even think about that, but it does seem a little odd that there is no actual photo of their own product. For one, I would probably not want to buy something like that until I saw a photograph of an acutal item, preferably in use like REI is so fond of doing on their website with many items.
I could make it lighter. :D
Expensive Mountain Sports has a return policy similar to REI. Is there is someone here willing to buy one to try it out??? Or go to a store to get a look and some pictures??
I think most commercial tents can be made lighter. They do not use sil out of duribility issues with the mases. That alone would gain you a lot. Add in regular noseeum for the netting and your trekking poles for tent poles. With all of that you could make this for close to 2 lbs.
Zoom in and look at the bottom of the hammock - there seems to be a seam of some kind there - is that one of the 3 "doors" in the specs?
They need to send someone on this site a review unit. I will volunteer to do the testing and a write up. ;) :D
The set up looks kinda complicated. I have a hard time imagining how the whole thing is put together. Looks heavy too!
i'm not sure that i can quite figure the whole thing out either. i suppose the hammock still hangs between 2 trees & the ridge of the tent rests on the hammock supports???
and if it maintains that shape when hung w/ a hammock, it must have enough poles to make it a free standing tent???
