Um... yes. That is true. :) Mine had the alpine upgrade. I'd have to go to Ray's site to refresh my memory as to what that entails, but it is warm (used it at Mt. Rogers).
Wish I knew how difficult it was to sew one of his quilts.
Depends on your sewing experience. I think it's a good starter project. His instructions leave a bit to be desired at the end (finishing stages). But just ask here if you have any questions.
Take your time, just like you would with any other project. Keep it fun, etc.

I think mine was $112.00 for the kit, it was a deluxe (all the bells and whistles) with the alpine upgrade. hth.
That's pretty impressive for a top quilt, NCP. I've been admiring the Ray-Way quilt since I saw yours in Hot Springs last April. As soon as it's in the budget, I'm going to get a kit with the alpine upgrade, for sure. :D
