New from Western North Carolina

New here from Western North Carolina after trying a night in a hammock, I ready to add something new to my outdoor adventures, I go by joe , I live in marion,nc,,,just a few mins to Linville Gorge, Wilson's Creek, and South Toe River Valley. Getting a dumping of snow today making me want to get out even more...

Welcome to the forum. I know the feeling about wanting to get out. I have been planning a trip with a buddy for about 2 weeks now. My wife decides that she does not want my trip to interfere with her birthday weekend:scared:. We are now scrambling to change our plans. I thought she would rather me go the weekend after her b-day and not the weekend before. Boy was I wrong:confused:. I am glad I made no reservations.

Welcome to the forum Joe. I'm sittin' here waiting for this cr#p to slow up a bit so I can get the first shoveling done. Our 1-2 inches is over 4 at this point :( Glad I got a good hike in on Sunday. The trails will be a mess for a while now.

Sounds like Joe needs to attend the next Linville Gorge Hang in the Spring.:thumbup: Heck all of us need to attend, right?

Not that I've heard of HB. Just some talk. I think Hawk-Eye wants to have one on the rim and sleep in Dutch Ovens! :D

I'm up for anything if I can make it fit with work. Springtime is a mad house if you're in the power equipment business.

Hi shug, stummbled across your videos,which lead me to trying a night hanging....I've slept outdoors in tents ,on the ground,etc, but never have I slept like I did in the hammock...

I have found that hammocking will add more the just "something" to your outdoor adventure ;) Welcome to the forum!

I live in Sylva, NC, so I'm pretty close to all this action too. The GSMNP is only about 15 miles from my house!

Have not got to the Great Smokeys in awhile, last time was way to crowed,of course the Gorge is getting the same way , been hanging around Mt. Mitchell past few times pretty cool places up there...
