I'm following up as well. My quilt is finished as of today, and has been stuffed and unstuffed about 4 times thus far. I have had no down coming out anywhere thus far. Next weekend will be it's first field test.
For the record, I ended up using 900 FP down.
WLMiller, if it were me, I would probably put another layer on, but it's only because I too know how much down I would end up losing in the process of removal (don't ask how I know that :D) I'm sure alot of people would completely rebuild, but it you aren't concerned with added weight, the only other problem I could think of is that fact that if your down is leaving the inner "shell" at a good enough rate, it would eventually just be compressed between the two pieces of fabric, which would not have any baffling.
