New to hammocks
Just thought I'd drop in as a new member and share a bit about myself. I'm 42 and an aspiring backpacker with an arthritis condition that had left me without good options for camping due to the ground aggravating my condition. My wife and I are moving back to Colorado in late July and planning on getting into overnight backpacking/camping due to the discovery of this thing called...the hammock. This forum has been a great resource in my research and appreciate everyone's thoughtful input. Look forward to being a contributing member!
On order as of 6/20: WBBBXLC DBL1.1 & Superfly
Will update everyone with my first hang when I receive it!

Hello, Welcome. Good choices on the WB gear. Suggest picking up "The Ultimate Hang". Great all-in-one-place for all things hammocks.

Welcome brother, I'm 42 and was in the same boat about a year ago. Wish we were moving to the mountains! Keep us informed.

Welcome. Looks like you are off to a good start on your gear. Glad to see you will get to spend some more time outdoors! :)

Welcome. You found the best place on the web to hang out.
I'm just curious, what hammock/tarp are you going to get once She lays claim to your nice new setup? You better start shopping now because there is no way she'll be able to resist such nice stuff.
Definitly pick up The Ultimate Hang, for $4 the kinle version is a steal. It will answer 99% of all your hanging questions.

Thanks guys - appreciate the recommendations and will pick that up for reference. I fully expect that I'll be doubling up soon enough but she wanted to try it first. Likely another order right behind this in early August!

I think I know what you're talking about. You have knee problems? I started using a hammock years ago and then I started having them. With a hammock there's no down on you knees in the mud brother and put in the stakes, crawling into the tent and crawling out again. There's also no forcing to get up after you get out of the tent. You just step down. You can also hang your pack and never have to bend. Uh, maybe once in a while. If you fold the hammock down the middle you both can sit on it like a lounge chair. Welcome and good luck.;)
