At 4:03 there´s a black part but at 4:09 the text that Moski put up shows.
Sorry, if I fooled you!
NB! The entire wolf attack video is a big scam!
It never happened, the wolf sound is only a mp3-file and together with some speakers we made it scary.
I hope you´re not mad at me for fooling some of you!
Better late then never ?
I am Sorry that my trip report is a bit late, had some family issus.
Back to topic.
As some of you might know, the "The danish viking pharaohs clairvoyance curse" struck us bad on the planning stage !
Hangers lost to the curse:
- TheWild
- Joz
- Bomber
- Rawhide
- Frikk
It even tried to get me on depature day !
The plane was leaving 09.00.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_q...A/P1281168.JPG
The curse tried to trick me by making me leave home a bit late,
then it got me to the wrong longtime parking lot which was full.
Took me forever to find the right parking.
This is the the time when i got to the check in point.
Ha, 21 min to go , i prevailed !

The chartered SKAHOw plane was not the biggest !
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_q...s/P1281171.JPG
But it flew, really noisy here by the engine !
I couldn't hear a thing the stewardess said :)
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_q...s/P1281173.JPG
My pulk is bigger than yours
Mine is the Alpacka raft to the left !
Peter's pulk is to the right !
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_q...I/P1281175.JPG
Here we go !
I havn't been standing on skies since i was a little boy :D
But i guess it's like bicycling, once you know it, you don't forgett
The shot is a bit gloomy, time is 14.05 :)

Peter takes the lead in an old snowmobile track.

Paradise on earth ?
Camp is up.
It was actually hard work just to select a spot for the hammock,
we had to ski around and look, since the snow was about 50cm.
Peter said:DQuote:
We are in luck, not so much snow
On saturday around 11.00 we got hit by strong winds !
We had the snowfall sideways (90 degree) straight into the windshed :)
13 -14 m/s in the gusts.

The wind turned and blow straight into my setup,
2Q & ZQ Grizz beak really saved the day :D http://www.2qzqhammockhanger.com/
Peter is not a tree hugger !
He is a tree hacker :)
After the storm he decided that we needed more cover.

And just because i am from Stockholm he tried to convince me that they will root there to spring.
But i am not too sure about that
Sensitive pictures further down, be ready to shut your eyes :scared:

Ground Dwelling
This is RipNils shelter , BRRR !
I am curious if he will hang on our next occasion ?
Sensitive Stuff is over !
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_q...2/P1301231.JPG
RipNils himself.
I must say that i was really impressed by this guy !
Straight after the snowstorm he skies out in the wilderness to
spend the night with two guys he never meet or even have spoken too !
But the really big plus was hearing his girlfriend screaming in the mobile.
:lol:Quote:
So, are they dorks, or what ?
RipNils looked a bit :o

He had a really nice shovel that i tried to nick, but he caught me :sneaky:
As punishment he was sent away !
Nah, he had a nice shovel , but he was a bit late to a date :)

This is how we got water during the weekend, it worked great !
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_q...M/P1291210.JPG
Note to self
When Peter says:
Plz, LISTEN to him !Quote:
There might be water on the ice under the snow !
Otherwise, you end up with wet shoes :)
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_q...s/P1291212.JPG
Bacon frying.
Something strange happend to my digestion system this weekend.
Even if i brought enough food for the whole trip,
i persuaded Peter to a resupply stop when he picked me up at the airport.
And here is the strange bit:
I didn't touch the original food bag and only ate half of the resupplied stuff
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_q...M/P1301215.JPG
Note to self
Water bottles freeze at winter :D
This was stupid, since we really didn't need to store water at all , we had a whole lake full of water .

Yeah, it seems like i have a fetish for snowy Alpackas
The Alpacka worked great during the hole weekend !

The temp curve for this weekend, nothing spectacular.
Nothing to write about on Internet :)
Min = -6.56 C Sat 29/1 23.11
Max = +1.99 C Fri 28/1 20.36
Averge = -2.54 C
https://www.m.nu/images/microlite.gi...5b59b14ae7231f My new Temp logger, bought b/c it will work down to -40 C :D
Final thoughts :
- Thanx for a great weekend Peter
- I had a small amount of condensation on the footpad each morning (nothing bad)
- Peter had some condensation issues last morning.
- No, we didn't miss the opportunity to have a Pork Screamer party !
- I didn't eat much, but sure went to the toilet everyday ?
ask Peter how much he ate and how many toilet visits he did :)- Toilet visits in the forrest in winter time are far worse psych wise than it actually is ....
- One thing i will take with me from this weekend is DIGGING, jeez how much i / we dug this weekend !
If you didn't have anything to do , you dug !- You dug your campsite.
- You dug wind walls .
- You dug around the windshelter.
- You dug a toilet.
- You dug pathways.
- You dug snow to freeze the water by the waterhole.
- Digging keps you warm.
What worked and What didn't
Worked
- 2Q & ZQ Grizz beak
- Alpacka raft
- The hole hammock system
- Thick white shockcord on the Yeti winter UQ
- Neos overboots + Down booties
- Gear hammock concept
- Temp logger
Didn't work
- WM Puma sleeping bag (way to warm)
- Tarp guy lines (have to look into this)
- Frosen vacumflask seal
- Glow in the Dark Nalgene bottle (Never got enough light)
- None waterproof boots in water :)
- Cold weather
- Northern light
Nice report, Moski!
I will try to finish mine, unless I´m banned from HF since the Wolf Attack movie. I´m sorry! Again!
As long as you ask for forgivness all is forgiven :D
I should know :D
Common , you said it was fake in the after text !
And really tried people sit it out to the end !
What else could you do?
I am of to the Ice lakes in the neighborhood .
------------------------------------------------------------
*TIMEWARP*
Okej, that didn't go that well !
Got to the lake with wife and 6y son.
When we had found a nice spot in the sun,
unpacked the coffee and put the skates on the kid.
A huge motocross bike starts to do straight runs, across the lake !
He was doing around 100km/h, aprox 10 m from my kid !
After about 8 runs, i had enough.
I tried to get his attention and i was only gonna ask him if he could take a break !
Since, it didn't feel safe for the kid !
To my big surprise he worked himself up to a frenzy,
claiming he had as much right to be there as we :D
Btw, the guy was not a kid, it was a man around 40 !
When he got himself worked up, he started to talk English (pommish).
And i really tried to stay calm, but i lost it after a while.
I was in the same state as him screaming back in English (a lot of swear words).
When i suggested that we might get this sitution solved by calling the police,
he angrily spun the bike around on the ice and LOST IT.
He and the bike fell flat on the ice, the bike parted from him and skided away 10m.
He stood up, looked foolish at me, ran after the bike and took off
IDIOT !
Need to finish this!
Well, well, after we filmed the FAKE wolf video, we went back to doing what we´ve done the hole weekend. Nothing! Except eating, sleeping and digging snow.
It didn´t feel so nice going to bed this, the last, night since we needed to get up early. Moski had a flight to catch so we set the alarm to 0700.
Going to bed I realized that I hadn´t tried the waterproof undercover that I had made earlier in the winter. My thought about it was that it would prevent some cold air to blow in from underneath. The thoughts was probably right but it didn´t work out as planned. During the night I was really hot so I had to open up my topquilt. In the morning, when I got up I realized that the undercover wasn´t a great idea. There where loads of condense between the underquilt and the undercover and the underquilt was soaked. Fortunately it was the last night, I´m happy I didn´t try the undercover earlier.
We went to bed 21:24 and it was then -1,2C (30F) and when I got up at 07:00 it was -1,6C (29F). Coldest during the night was -2,4C (27,7F). I had the thermometer between my underquilts and it was also soaked:
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_G...g/P1040250.JPG
My soaked thermometer
We had breakfast, packed our gear and went skiing to the car.
After approx 1 hour driving I left moski at the airport and went home to take a shower. Nice!
Summary:
The hang was really good but it would have been nice with more hangers. Hope for more hangers at the next SKAHO, wherever it will be.
I had a really nice weekend with lots of sleep and food, exactly as planned.
We didn´t much and I really needed that!
As the weather turned out we probably had to warm gear but it´s easier to ventilate when warm then trying to warm up when cold.
We had a lot of food, to much, but better to much then to little.
See ya!
NB! I have some spare film-material so there will probably be some more films coming up. Moski listening to weird music, the Alpacka going down a slope and Moski skiing.......
hård kärna hänga.......Hard-core hang Fellers!
The wind was really breezing you but you stayed. Respect!
Loved the whole story ....wolves and all........ Haaaaaa.
Moski....glad to hear that the NEOS worked well. Did they keep your botties dry.
Try putting your pad IN your footbox of TQ. I started doing that and now never get condensation on the footbox. May work for you.
Whoooooooo
Shug
Thanx Shug "the winter guru" :)
Too much work to relocate , so we are just a lazy bunch really :)
Sure did !
But i learned my leason with the leather boots .
So, i mainly stayed in dry snow with the NEOS .
But, i am pretty confident they can handle som wetness :)
One feature i really liked about them,
was the ability to hoist up the gaiters to just under the knees
I usally do that when i use a TQ and as you say, it works great.
But here i used the WM Puma sleepingbag (way to warm) and it feels super fiddly to get the pad down there.
Great trip (& report) guys!
I liked the "Wolf video"... gives me ideas:sneaky:
And I particularly liked the snow wall protecting the fire pit.
Good stuff!!!
