Good for ENO for making products that complete their offerings for a complete hammock camping system. Someone from the product development team must lurk on this forum based on the description of the underquilt.

However for less than $300 for the underquilt one can get a 0F rated quilt with 900FP that weighs less and have change left over from the shipping charge too.

It's a start in the right direction. If they catch on, they can upgrade the materials as volume and demand dictates.

If they would have used a regular 1.1 ripstop on the liner. They could have shaved a few oz and maybe brought the cost down.

Well it seems it took a while for them to introduce better suspension. Maybe down the road there will be lighter and less expensive quilts. It's certainly a step in the right direction if they want to appeal to people that like colder back country trips.

Not so sure I agree with you, what reference are you quoting from?

The way I see it is they are offering a "Full Length" UQ that is 24oz with a 25* rating, for comparison you can get a JRB Mt.Wash 3 at 21oz at 25*, a big 3oz difference both being the same price.

Then the TQ, it isn't as close as the UQ for a comparison piece, but it's still not far off with the Hudson River (temp rating is not the same, more closer to the Stealth).

Also they are not using the same FP goose down as JRB and the others are using either.

I give them great big "Kuddo's" for stepping into a almost flooded market, also if you can get their quilts as fast as JRB (which in my opinion is probably the fastest) then that is also a plus.

Not arguing with anyone, JMO...

"Hey, I bought this cool ENO hammock from this outdoor store and they said to stay warm I need this topquilt and underquilt. I don't want to use a tent anymore so I'm going to shell out the dough."

Oh!!! THAT'S why they coated it in DWR... so at least it will stay dry (enough) when you DO end up on your bum in the middle of the night...

And who said product development teams don't pay attention... :lol:

i think its great! .

a lot of folks don't need UL gear - and don't care to research the art of the hammock on HF.

fact is, maybe they can only get out 3 times a year--- and a 750FP is good enough.

i'll keep to the cottages, though, and help to support the families that make custom gear for true enthusiasts---not the generic public.

I agree. I just got one of ENO's hammocks and nearly bought the one link deal thinking "well I will need all this anyway" however after some research I found out how bad the straps are and how cheap it would be to make my own of higher quality.
So in what little experience I have with hammocks its seems like eno is the hip way to go since they put it all together and you dont have to think at all.

personally I'm thankful for this forum for all the info and for saving me some $$ :D but i like reading into things.

I fell victim to slap straps so I know the feeling. Only after my double nest and slap straps did I find this forum

I'm glad this forum is saving someone some $$$! It has cost most of us a fortune!:lol:

As for ENO trying to offer a more complete system to the market...good for them for trying. I would dare to guess that 90% of their customer base is no where near as informed as the community on Hammock Forums. We all know there are much better options out there from our cottage vendors, but not everyone buying a hammock knows that our cottage vendors even exist. They are offering a mass-produced/mass-marketed product to people around the world. Don't expect to get the same attention to detail that our tuned-in cottage vendors can offer. For now, it's a step in the right direction for them, and it will make hammock camping a lot more comfortable for a lot of first timers with cold butt syndrome!:)

I guess we should give ENO some credit for their offering, but I think for the same money, JRB will sell you something better and lighter. 750FP isn't very good compared to 900 FP you can get elsewhere for the same or less money.

If ENO used the same quality of Down that our cottage vendors do, and pushed their products out to REI et all, there might not be enough high fill down to go around. It is entirely possible that they looked at using better down but couldn't find a supplier that could meet the demand they would likley place on them. Let them hold down the Low end, and let the HF vendors keep making the highest end gear :)
