Hi from Maryland
I'm a ultralight backpacker. Normally I sleep on the ground. I bought a cheap hammock and have fashioned some strap hangars from gear I already owned, and have practiced a bit in the local park, this might be more comfortable and a little warmer than sleeping on the forest floor. So far I have an ultralight hammock set-up worked out. Next I begin work on a tarp. I've purchased a 9x9' coated nylon tarp that I'm going to customize for my needs. Next I'll be modifying an old sleeping bag to use as a quilt, shouldn't be too hard.
I have no interest in sinking a boatload of money and buying another bunch of equipment, as I already own too much stuff. Plus I'm small and I want all my gear to custom fit my frame.
I'm still mastering the lingo but I'm getting there.
