Due to surgery I have not been able to cycle (road bike). During this time, I have developed an interest in hiking, camping and hammocks. I am interested in hearing any advise you have for a beginner. Are there hammock groups or clubs in Montgomery?

Welcome from another Montgomery resident....seems us hammock guys are spreading around town.
Welcome to HF from Gadsden. We usually have a Heart of Dixie hang but due work scheduling issues I am not able to take the lead on this at this time. We hopefully will be having one in the fall so keep your eyes open. Reading, watching videos (check out the newbie vids) and going to a group hang are great ways to learn and check with HF members in your area to see if they will let you try a hammock out.
welcome to the party!
yes, there are several of us addicts here in bama, and bigbamaguy has done a great job of getting us together every now and then.
there are also other hangs in the se that are within a days driving distance if you want to meet and greet and check out the gear options. go to the hang out section of the forum
welcome from 2 hours south in Andalusia
I think you should just go out there and hang as much as you can. That's be best way for a beginner, I am speaking to myself. :)
