Reflectix question
I am going fort first hang this weekend and will be using a PLUQ, DIY SPE and a piece of reflectix along with zero degree bag. my question is should I put the reflectix under the pad and put another piece between the UQ and hammock? Would it help having 2? How do you utilize reflectix?
Thanks

I put mine straight under my butt, I use a TG so it's between my body and the hammock fabric. There's a little bit of condensation but nothing to be worried about. I use a square about 16x16"
Works a treat if you start getting a bit of CBS

Well the manufacturer says it is most effective when facing an open area rather than up against the thing being insulated. But they are talking about attics not warm bodies...lol..Its design reflects Radiant Heat. Radiant heat is heat which radiates out from an element, warming objects rather than the air. Where as Heat lost through Thermal conduction is simply heat transferring from a material of warm temps to a material of colder temps in order to reach equilibrium. So it could easily be argued that a Radiant reflector should be placed on the outside of a thermal barrier like down insulation. It would keep the Insulation at a higher temp and reduce the need for equilibrium, thus increasing its effectiveness as well as the down insulation effectiveness. Im no expert on Physics, im just going off some of the lengthy articles ive been reading. I have been quite curious on this very same subject and have been scouring the internet looking for answers and trying to fully understand how different types of insulation and barriers work against different types of heat transfers. If there is an expert in the house, please speak up.
