That's what I was going to say.
My one experience with that noise was sitting in a tree stand about 5am waiting for the sun to come up. I was half asleep and more focused on keeping warm than my surroundings.
Heard that noise right below me and just about poo'd myself right there.
Yeah I had something like that happen to me last year on my first solo trip. I had something still don't know what come close to my hammock snorting, sneezing and making all kinds of noises. It startled me enough that I had to wait to get out to water the trees, which I finally did was with open knife in one hand and headlamp on to try to figure out what it was. The thing that got me the most my dang dog wasn't even barking at whatever it was.
I'm with Shug.
Haints, goblins or BOTH:scared:
Glad you're still here to tell the tale.

Hey Hangin' Burrito! I live up here in Yancey County right outside the thriving metropolis of Burnsville. I, too, have heard that hair raising sound in the woods near my house. A woman down the mountain from us arrived home, parked in her driveway and saw in the headlights of her car, a mountain lion. Just sitting there, licking its front paw, happy as could be! Of course, she didn't dare get out of her car!!! She called another neighbor on her cell phone and they both saw it. It finally walked off into the woods. So I KNOW there are mountain lions here in WNC. I hear that sound occasionally and it's freaky!!! Like someone's getting murdered! Never heard it from the hammock though. Thank goodness! Well, hang safe!
