GoLite poncho/tarp as undercover
Has anyone tried using a GoLite Ultralight poncho/tarp as an undercover for their HH? I was just thinking of the potential and what types of things you could use as insulation.
welcome to hammock forums. i just saw your post on the other thread http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=1525
i've never gone that route & not sure that i will, just because i like the extra coverage of a tarp for cooking & stuff, but i certainly understand how that would help take your pack size & weight down a notch.
do you use an under quilt? if so i'm sure that would be part of your concern, using a poncho as your tarp.
BTW, always good to see more BPL.com members here. ...tim
Welcome to the Hanging Gang and the forum...
Wind screen helps but please understand the real requirement is bottom insulation.... not just dead air (although that is usefull for a few degrees).... In the long run though it should breathe and not trap moisture, which will have negative insulation and weight effects.
