I'll have a couple of 50' paracords with me but we'll need someone to probably bring more.

Sounds like we are going to have a mini-hamfest at the hang! My buddy that is hoping to attend is also a ham, Andy, N4LAG. I will never claim to be the smartest ham, but I hope that I may have learned something in so many SOTA activations. :scared: Radio is a great hobby that you can put down when life takes you in other directions and pick back up later when things slow back down.
I have a large 16' Kelty Noah's tarp that I can bring if we need some covered area away from the campfire. Easy enough to throw in the truck just in case. A tip I picked up from a car camping friend is that ratchet straps make awesome ridgelines and tensioning devices for tarp cities.

Going to need at least one tarp for the Ham Shack!

I did operate a couple years ago during a group hang at Medoc Mtn
I'll try for 10:30 Thursday. Should be able to make that.
If anyone is coming Thursday evening I could be there around 7pm to hike up to the group site. Otherwise it’s looking like Friday 10:30am ish.
Tacoma - thank you for coordinating this. Do we need an inventory of tarps, paracord/straps, stove/fuel? I know everyone is responsible for their own meals & provisions but happy to bring what I can. I sold off most of my car camping gear but still have an assortment of gas lanterns, candle lanterns, stoves, etc. I guess having extras is helpful so I’ll just bring what I can carry.
In addition to my sleep kit it will be an 8x10’ nylon tarp, a couple of ratchet straps, a Coleman gas lantern, and Bluetooth speaker for some tunes.
Tarp has been purchased. Slugger you can pick it up anytime. That works for you

Big Bill and I are looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. We will be making our way up to see everyone Friday sometime. This is our yearly vacation and we will be taking in some sights on the way. The enchanted forest is a special one.

40% change of rain Saturday night. Of course this far out I am sure the forecast will change hopefully for the better. I live over in Murphy NC and the past few days it has been raining off and on every day and the forecast is for rain most of the coming week
Complications. I won’t make this one.
Chappy23 - just sent you a PM about picking up the tarp.
Chance of rain? No problem. Will be there anyway!

30 to 50% change of rain all week at this point
I plan on coming up Friday evening after work.
Not sure if this has been mentioned but the Bilo Grocery at the entrance of the forest has closed…
Just in case anyone was planning on stopping there.
Dennis - I picked up the tarp from Chappy this morning - it's a 20x30 with 100' of rope! Will be in my 2nd load up the hill once I get there Thursday.
I'll be there starting Wednesday or Thursday. My buddy Jameson from RBTR will join us Saturday, and Lance from RBTR should be coming through some time as he is doing a quick thru on the Art Loeb.

plenty of firewood in my truck bed please feel free to help out.
I’m headed in to the woods now. See you guys there.
…and I’m back out of the woods. Juvenile bear would not leave me alone. Kept circling. Got as close as 10 feet. I’m fine with solo camping, but this dude was giving me the creeps.

Where was this Kevin?
Where Carter and I have been hanging for the last four years. About 300 yards past the enchanted forest on the creek.
This might make for an interesting weekend. Got my bear vault already packed.
I was going to PCT my stuff, but didn’t even get the chance. Just set up my gear.
Don’t worry Slugger , your snoring will keep him away
Seems he's still lingering in the area. I'm not particularly bothered by bears, but it would be annoying to have my stuff clawed and smashed.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6eecaff1b9.jpg

Bears will be bears. A couple of weeks ago I saw something to my right and saw a large black bear running along side my truck for a few hundred feet before it ducked back into the woods
We had a quiet night last night, i.e. Kevin’s bear was somewhere else.
