And so it begins.....
Finally ordered my first hammock. :D
BMBH - 11'x10' Cat Tarp Combo w/Green Tarp
JRB Tarp Line & STL Set (11' x 10' Tarp)
McNett SilNet Silicon Seam Sealer
Vargo Aluminum Summit stakes qty 6

Besides TQ and UQ, am I missing anything?
TQ and UQ - plan on using my BA aircore pad with a mid-weight fleece liner [200 wt. fleece which should be plenty for summer time]
In the Fall, I will try my Marmot Helium bag with Z-rest vs. BA Encampment with BA insulated aircore pad.
Any suggestions on whether pads should go in pocket vs in the bridge?
Wow, I can't wait!
I have almost the exact same hammock + tarp. A few suggestions:
1. Your first few times in the hammock will seem like a wrestling match as you get your sleeping gear, pillow, and everything else sorted out. It's easier to put the pad in the pocket.
2. I strongly recommend a ridgeline - mine is made from 35' of Amsteel (but any thin, low stretch polyester line will do) and attaches at each end with a small Figure 9 on a sliding Prussik knot. The tarp hangs from the ridgeline on very small carabiners (also on sliding Prussik knots). The tarp hangs much better this way, and I think there's less strain on the tarp fabric.
3. I sewed silnylon pockets on each end for various items in the hammock. I usually need to keep track of my headlamp, reading glasses, iPod, etc.
Good luck, and have a lot of fun. Let me know if you're ever headed up to Maine.
I just got a BMBH in a trade...i can't wait to try it out...:D
I spent some time reading about tarp suspensions including Opie's great posts, and I think I understand your set-up...
"ridgeline attaches at each end with a small Figure 9 on a sliding Prussik knot"
So the prussik knots allow you to slide the Figure 9 along the ridegeline so that the tarp is centered between the trees and then the figure 9s are where you tighten the whole assembly.
"The tarp hangs from the ridgeline on very small carabiners and sliding Prussik knots."
So the location of the prussik knots for the the tarp biner are set once and then remain in that location forever. I assume the knots can't be moved while under tension [attached to the tarp] so there must be a little trail and error on where the two knots are located to get a nice taut pull on the ridgeline of the tarp but once set don't need to be adjust on future hangs.
Do I have that right?

MUST RESIST THE URGE TO GO HOME SICK....
The 9's slide to accomodate different diameter trees. The larger the tree the more "tail" youll need to wrap around.
The biner prusiks are more or less stationary... But their main purpose is to center the tarp over your hammock once you have the main line pulled tight.
