no modeling?:confused:is it those dam stone wings?i can see were they would wreck the fit of a poncho.:D
another fine looking biuld,lets see
ponch,or tarp,or underquilt liner,tarp endcap/door.
could you hang it under your tarp and use it as a rough uq piling unused cloths in it?gear hammock?how about as one of those hiking pole camp chairs?to slippery?
Great ideas and description. Thank you. Got my wheels spinning about adding a hood to an old tent footprint turned uqp. Then I can ditch the double carry poncho.
How does it look on a person though?
Still have not figured out a reliable way to keep the head hole from leaking......
I made a poncho/tarp a bit ago that seems to work pretty well for me. It's 9', 10" long by 64" wide. I fold up the rear 3' of it with velcro so it doesn't hang down too long. To keep the hood hole from having too much tension I ran a center strip of grosgrain that ties together at the hood. I seal the hood when I'm using it as a tarp by throwing a slippery constrictor knot around it. I put some cloth between the line and the hood to reduce the wear and tear on it.
Theres an OLD trick.....used since the days of the USGI ponchos......BUT it requires a hood to be part of the poncho, specifically one with draw cord closure.....you simply twist the hood as tight as you can, and then wrap the draw cord around the narrowest part, and its kind of like whipping a hammock end for no-sew hammocks......this prevents water from coming in, and also provides a good place to hang the poncho as a tipi tarp.
