So much to do and not enough time. :)
Nov: hunting trip 2 weeks, visit daughter in Il, 4 days,
Dec: Winter camping training for Scouts, 2 weekends
Jan: Winter camping, 5 days
Still working on winter quilt and other indoor projects.
I guess it is true, when did I have time to work?

BURRRR!!! Longterm forecast for single digits at night...
weather.com has it in the high teens and if it trends like the 10day it should be in the 20's, are you thinking about backing out? would you prefer to do something local like waterloo or pinkney just to do a gear shake out? i think my UQ will be fine, i'm making a TQ and a winter dream tarp right now.
if we go to MRT we'll be close enough to the cars if not right at them if there is too much snow and we stay at seaton creek, you could always go home the next day if you get too cold.
I saw the forecast changed in less than 24 hrs after I posted, upper teens and low 20's sound absolutely wonderful :lol::lol:... I'm more than ready for single digit testing but I've been told I have scheduling conflicts (GF) so close to Christmas... I've layered my 25* down bag as TQ over my 0* down bag, pretty sure that will keep me warm well below zero inside a NOAH 12 setup in winter mode. I'm actually head north on Monday for 5 days with the hammock to test everything out, Jordan River Area and Pigeon River Area. Looks like they have been getting a fair amount of snow...:D
BTW... Anyone elses significant other think we're alittle off our rockers hammocking in these cold temps...
If the MRT doesn't work out for you I could do an overnight shake down in Pickney or WL area, would love to see that UQ and Winter Dream... Also maybe try planning something mid to late Jan, these HOLIDAYS are messin with my real passions...:lol::lol:
Are you guys still thinking of going 17-19?
Hanson - yeah we're still going. haven't figured out just yet were we're parking on friday night.
right now i have a group of 5 + whomever from this forum. i'm leaving around 10:30 friday morning and should be up there around 4pm.
sr1355 - are you or did you do the group off trail hike with Mike from backpacker.com?
Yes, my wife thinks i'm nuts along with her mother and just about everyone else i tell i'm going camping in december.
there is a trip in lake superior backcountry in Jan 14-18 that i'm thinking about going on. it's a straight up backwoods/snowshoeing trip off trail.

i will be heading up to my cabin near the mrt next weekend will be checking on slegale road to see if it is staying clear. If you guys need to change to pickenny or Wl thats cool too that isnt far from home.
wife is sure i am nuts mom thinks i am going to die lol.
i called the ranger station this morning. they have a foot of snow on the ground. red bridge parking lot is normally plowed/kept up. the road into seaton creek is maintained, however unless a local plows the road into the camp ground it's not maintained. i'm trying to negotiate with the ranger station if they would at least make a pass into the camp ground and to the trail head. we can park on the side of the road at seaton creek but could get plowed in or damage to our vehicles if the road commission decides to not slow down when passing.
i know slagle creek is plowed up to when the it splits and the trail head goes left and the residents goes right, i'm not sure if we can park there or if there is room.
as of right now its me+4 going, when it nears i'll try to figure out what is best. it might boil down to get up there and drive around if i can't get answers.
