Some interesting reading about the Girth Hitch...
I see they show straping in all there demonstrations anyone know if this differs with the use of rope? My other thought is there talking about shock loads used with falling and rock climbing not just steady pessure. However, in regards to safety I will be changing how my spyderline is joined to my hammock rope possibly using that climbers sling hitch. I think someone posted a chart on knot breaking strengths a while ago but I'm not sure where. I have to do some investigation on this.
Here is the final result on the cinch buckle installation on the standard Speer straps. Installed 9" from the line attachment for the bug netting. Works great!

This is my understanding of what has been said. Please take into consideration that I do not pretend to know this knot. But this is the mental picture I came to draw from the information given in this thread. If I am wrong pleas let me know. I can and will adjust the drawing if it is not correct. or replace it with a link to a good picture of what everyone else is talking about. http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery...eringsetup.bmp
Just PM HOI about it, I'm sure he'll fill you in on the details as soon as he gets back from the winter hang. Like I said, he showed me last weekend at SoRuck and the idea's been on my mind since. I'm already looking at how to incorporate it into a couple hammocks. :D
I'm already set in my support system ways. But wanted to help illustrate the technique so all could understand it. Does it look correct?
