In all honesty, I believe I'm using something like 3ft lines for the tie outs, haha. Last hang I had no experience with tarp lines and only used my hennessy stock tarp that came with lines, so I just sat around camp and made tensioners and lines I would need for that night only. More so to learn how, I planned to get different line soon.
But there's very few situations I can imagine needing more than a few feet of line. Better to have than have not.

I still find it difficult to decide, maybe because I'm ill right now so I can't really think clearly.I really like that idea, but with trying it out with mason line I think I'll run into the problem that I'd be trying it out in the Netherlands. You might consider that just to find a good way to ration you're legnth before you cut you're better line. I'd probably still use a your other line for the ridge though.
I would just buy another 100' and save yourself the math head ache! :D
