I don't know anything about Wolf Creek, but if they've got trails and such for folks that wanna hike, that sounds awesome. Also don't know anything about how off-season camping works there, nor their policies on hammock camping.
What's been your experience with that stuff there?
As I've mentioned, the only 'local' experience I've had so far is Woodridge, but I can reach out to other places and find out costs/policies for off-season and hammocks.
If some want to hike, Pomona lake would'nt work. I was just throwing it out there, a jewel to camp at in our backyard.
I was told its free Oct - April, the cg is technically shut down. No water, electricity, some bathrooms closed some open. Gates are open, drive back and have the whole place to yourself this time of year. Grass was in great shape even down to the lake. Most sites have fire rings, some tables, even some dead wood laying around.
Perry or Clinton proaly make more sense, you guys pick it, I'll just show up :D
OK, there was another thread started for this, but it looks like we've got a couple of folks interested in a winter hang, this coming up Jan 14th and 15th at the Woodridge Public Use Area on Clinton Lake, near Lawrence/Stull KS.
It'll be a bring your own water situation. There are about 6 miles worth of trails through the woods and along the lake, and no site fee.
If you're interested, please let me know here, via PM, or on the thread started by Psyop.
Looks like we might be having another hang in our area soon! ;)
Will be close. I'll have temporary front teeth in at that time while my crowns are being prepared. I don't have a good history with those. But if I get a chance and you guys are hanging I'll see if I can run out there and meet folks. I won't have an underquilt by then anyway.
OK, looks like we've got enough interest to make this happen.
Jan 14th-15th, Woodridge Public Use Area near Lawrence, Ks
I'm going to drop a PM to a few more folks that have shown an interest on this thread to see if they'd like to attend.
I'd love to attend. We could celebrate my birthday! (13th)
But I have no transportation available and quite frankly i'm tired of the cold.
I'll probably end up cooking me and the dog a couple steaks and crack open a couple brews for us to celebrate my b-day in style (is it bad that my dog is a beer snob like me?)
Hope you all don't freeze to death out there :D
my birthday is also the 13th- come on out.
